The Craftsman 25 ft Steel Measuring Tape is a good value

The Craftsman measuring tapes are a good value especially when you find them on sale.  I added mine to my tool set in my workshop because I had to have a matching set of tools with the Craftsman label on them.  I used a different type of Craftsman tape doing carpentry but I have seen many people use this type daily and they worked well.  I have run the saw on job-sites and know what it is like to need a super reliable tape that can withstand constant use under stressful weather conditions.

Tooth is too small doesnt hold anything

Tooth doesnt hold the end of lumber.. have used many tapes over the years and NEVER had this problem.. Its soo annoying I cant wait to throw it at the salesman at FW Webbs who told me how great it was.

Overall
Very poor performance in a basic tool .

The first craftsman tape measures I used were the chrome plastic varieties, definitely not the quality I remember my grandfathers using. When those failed, I exchanged for the yellow type that had some type of gimmick to wind a replacement tape in them. Then the basic yellow and black, followed by the red and black made in another country. Each time I went to Sears to exchange them I usually bought something, or at the least considered items for future purchase. Good marketing, but I can't remember the last time I was at a Sears store. Items made in other countries, poor quality, and the hassle the sales people give when exchanging a warranted forever tool keep me from making this store a regular stop. I have bought many items from Sears, I want to shop there, but disappointment is a strong deterrent. Craftsman tools; made for the professional, the serious hobbyist, or some type of stuffed shirt that can't change his own oil? What's next? Having a gang of sales people race to you then scratch their heads when you ask for anything not in their sales pyramid that blocks the aisle? Selling Craftsman tools in a discount store known for low quality?

Have one in every tool box

I find myself always thinking "how long is that?" or "how far of a reach is that?" I keep a Craftsman tape measue anywhere I may ask that question. Several? Yes. If the tape measure is at the other end of the house it is of little value so I have at least one in each of my tool containers (toolboxes, tool bags, etc.). A tape measure is always within easy reach, and they are all Craftsman. Most are the 30 foot length but I do have a couple shorter ones in tool bags that do not have much room. I have one 25 footer that I bought when I could not find a 30 footer, works just as well. Always reliable, I have never had to return one.

Good Quality Tape

I'm not sure why the other reviews have been so negative. I've used this tape for a variety of purposes over the last few weeks and can't find one flaw. I love my fatmax tape, but this is lighter and seems to be just as reliable.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

this tape measure should be sold in a two pack, for when the first one breaks in a week you will have a back up until you can make it into a sears to warranty it out.

Not to my expectations

I bought this tape thinking it would be good craftsmen quality. I was wrong, its a good thing it was a warrenty because i have had mine a week and it is already wearing. I am definitley spending the extra money on another fat max!!! The tape dont slide very smooth, looks very cheap, bends easy, poor inking on the tape. i hope craftsman fixes this issue.

Craftsman?

This product performed horribly! I have used it for under a month. I took it on a service trip and the tape got stuck out almost 6 feet. It never really retracted right, it would frequently get stuck out and I would have to pull it out a little more and then eventually it would retract after I pushed it the rest of the way in. Thanks for the warranty. It doesn't even deserve 1 star.

This product is not heavy duty as stated!

I have used craftsman tape measures for over 12 years and have had no trouble until now! Ever since they changed them to the red and black tapes , the are not worthy to carry the craftsman name! Today will be the third time i have had to exchange it for a new one in just 3 weeks! I hope in return sears will try to take care of this ordeal soon!
