The perfect hammer for small craft projects

I bought this hammer with a specific need in mind which was a non-marring light hammer for craft projects and it has performed that task very well.

I tend to think ahead when I purchase many things and buy extra short lived parts at the initial purchase. Sometimes these parts just collect dust but in a case like this I am glad I planned for the head replacement. I have not needed them yet but based on other reviews I'm glad to have them.

Many projects require a hammer to insert a piece or connect two pieces that are fragile and could be dented with a regular hammer. These instances mostly call for a "blow type tool" more than something heavy and powerful so this hammer with it's weight and heads is ideal.

Go buy tires and see what type hammer is used to re-install your beautiful hubcaps. It may not have exactly this head because caps are a little more stout and forgiving but still a rubber head is used. One head of this hammer is rubber and forgiving like the example above and the other is hard impact plastic and is more dense for driving with semi soft hammer blows.

This is a use specific type tool although uses may be numerous. If you need a forgiving hammer type tool then this is a great choice.

      They don't sell tips
Bought this hammer thinking it was good which it was until the tips wore out. The manufacturer will not allow them to sell the replacement tips anymore. So I was told to buy a new hammer. Check yourself before wasting your money on the craftsman.

      Decent Soft-Faced Hammer

It does what it needs to do...nothing more, nothing less. The red face, however, seems a little more easily damaged than I would've liked and expected.

      Well Made Hammer

This is a well made hammer that does the job. It has two heads, one with a firm rubber head and the other with a plastic tip. The rubber head is useful where you do not want to leave any marks. The plastic tip will mar soft surfaces but not anything hard.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      PLASTIC TIP HAMMER

This hammer is exactly as described. It does the job very well as I have come to expect from a craftsman hand tool. 90% of my tools are bought from Sears and are Craftsman brand and I'm sure the trend will continue.

      Plastic tip hammer

This item is great for use when you need a plastic covered hammer instead of a regular hammer. Such as when pounding either a 2x4 or 4x4 into place. I has already come in handy, that is why I purchased this item. I would recommend this hammer to anyone who is in need of this type of tool., thank you, Sincerely, 65plus, Harrisburg, Pa.

The Craftsman Plastic Tip Hammer is durable and excellent qualit

The Craftsman Plastic Tip Hammer is durable and an excellent choice when working on material that requires you to be strong but not mark your finished product.  We use this hammer when making jewelry and find it extremely useful and of the utmost quality in this type of tool.   We used to be able to replace the tips out when they crack but Craftsman replaces the total hammer and so we always have the best tool available when we need it.  I would recomment this hammer above all others.

      This craftsman hammer works great!

This hammer works great, it is very helpful for those small jobs where you dont want to damage whatever material you are working with. I like that they have 2 different materials on each side-a hard plastic and a soft rubber mallet head.

      awesome small job hammer

This is a very nice product. I have used this product for years. It is quality made and will stand the test of time for sure. Craftsman tools are the best for the money. I think I?ve changed the tips once but that was after using it for years on small nailing projects. These are truly the toughest tools on the planet.

It smashes things. Actually it doesn't because its a plastic tip, so it hit things but doesn't hurt them.

      It's lifetime warranted

Maybe I'm confused about the availability of the replacement tips for either the large or small sized Craftsman mallets.

But, the stores will hand Customers a NEW mallet if the tips become badly damaged.

This sort of make the rubber/plastic tip replacement issue - moot.

      Doesn't it?

I've ordered replacement tips to restore an old chrome-finished Craftsman mallet and had no difficulty with removing the old and replacing with new tips.

I am a tool fanatic, in that I also replaced the original wooden handle, with a much more serviceable new handle.

Normally, someone would just turn the old tool in for a new one.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is exactly what my husband was looking for. The reviews were very helpful, and I ordered the replacement caps WITH the hammer; that way when they do need to be replaced, we already have the part! It saves on shipping and time.

the hammer is a good hammer but due to the fact that the tips have to be ordered and are no longer available in the store I would consider getting another hammer from another source due to the cost of the shipping is more than the tips themselves

      Replacement Faces

The hammer itself is an excellent tool. However replacement faces must be ordered and shipped. Because these faces do wear out and require replacement, Sears should stock these in every tool department.
