I have one of the hammers

I already have the complete set of Hickory-handled Craftsman ball pein hammers, and love them.

I had a chance to try out the one store sold 16 oz. sized, solid steel handled ball peins and was very impressed with its seemingly increased heft.

While hickory handled hammers are great for a degree of springyness in delivered hammer blows, the steel handled model seems to deliver a more energetic blow.

Since I am NOT using either type of hammer all day long, the difference in handle material does not affect my judgement of either tool.

Both type of handled tools have a good place in my workshop.

ok
The hammers are very durable and afforable, but much too heavy for everyday use. They weigh atleast twice as much as a fiberglass or composite handle hammer of equal weights. They are probably fine for occasional use, but under heavy use they are very hard on your arm compared to about any style handle. They are nicely made and very sturdy, but very tiring to use. Mine rarely get used because of that.

Great set of hammers!

Great set of hammers! These will last forever! No broken handles! Great grips! I seen some of the reviews saying these are too heavy. This set gives you five different sizes to choose from, if all of them are too heavy, maybe you should put them down and do something like watch TV. Only down side is that they are not chrome like they are pictured. They are painted and they come loose in a box. The paint is a little rough when you get them new. But I plan to use these not look at them, so it is all good.

New black version stinks

Someone at Sears told the hammer mfg to now paint these black and put a clear coat on top of the entire hammer. Now you receive hammers that have the clear coat peeling when you receive the poorly packed box. Then when you use the hammers the black paint starts flaking, chipping away. Whoever approved this changed needs to be fired. They need to go back to the way they are in the picture (all steel look heads and hammer on the ball peen) I'd prefer the silver paint on the drill hammer too over the black you get now.

Best Metal Hammer

Made in the USA by Vaughn for Craftsman, these are the best metal hammers out there for the price, especially if you get them on sale. The handles are comfortable, they aren't too heavy for regular use, and the price just can't be beat. Note that these now come in a black finish, not the clear coated metal shown in the stock image.

ball pein set

have you ever reached for a hammer and found you needed just a bit smaller or larger to really do the job right. This set fits perfectly in that catagory. Whether you need to just tap something in place or really pound on a peice, you have the right tool to get it done.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

American Made, Great Durable set, Great purchase, Bought 2 sets!

This hammer set my dad bought 20 years ago, Today this set is every bit as good and better. I bought this set because it is still American made. Quality is unmatched for the price. I do not know the name of the manufacturer, but they produce quality hammers for craftsman. Get one and you will not be dissapointed at all. We use these hammers a lot on the Farm, they get abused and used every day. This set is great because we haven't broke the handle on it, as the wooden ones tend to break, but that is expected eventually after some hard use. The head does not loosen on these which is really the reason to buy the Metal handle ones for rigid use. The rubber handle absorbs almost all the shock from striking. Good grip and has lasted a long time with minimal wear. Overall, I would pay more for this great quality in a set of hammers, thanks to Craftsman, you don't have to. Hope the review helps, Mark

Really like craftsman

I got this ball peen hammer set and was greatly satisfied with the quality. The hammers are different than pictured as they are not polished metal shafts and instead black, but still work great.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

5 Pc Ball Pein hammer set

These are real nice hammers made in the USA metal handles with cushion grips. I like the various sizes they have been a very good addition to my tools. I especially like the metal handle since I use one to hit the other on occasions I don' have to worry about breaking the handle. I like wooden handle hammers but they can not take the abuse without breaking the handle. These work great when you have to use one as a punch.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent set of Hammers

I work in the metal fabrication industry and use these types of hammers every day. This set is great. I compared them to a standard hammer on an anvil and you feel alot less jolt than even a name brand competitor's hammer. I liked them so much I bought another set!!! They are slightly heavier but if that's a problem you just grab the next size smaller hammer.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
