It is constructed of thin metal, not built like the old ones! I did a store pickup and didn't have any issues. I use this guy for my impact sockets and even picked up a tray organizer for the top drawer.
I have the quiet-glide 3-drawer middle chest & wanted different drawer layout for my second box. (1-3-3 on this vs. 1-1-4 on quiet-glide) plus got on sale and local pick-up. My first impression: Where are the ball-bearings? I don?t see them anywhere! When I think BB I think ?friction-less? and ?close drawer with one finger.? Honestly I think my quiet-glide chest is better. The drawers are not anywhere near as smooth as I would expect. I remember seeing these in the store and being impressed but perhaps in Sears continual quality tail-spin they took the hatchet to the higher-end tool-boxes? Also the substitute ?grip-latch? effect by having a detent to keep drawers closed ends up being annoying. I have to gently yank to open. Like I said for BB I want ?one-finger opening? ? Useful if you roll your cart around to keep from flying open but not for static chest parked against a wall. One other thing to consider with any middle chest: measure the total height you?ll end-up with because if you?re inserting between a roll-away & top chest, unless you?re really tall, be prepared to lose the usefulness of your top lid. I?m 5?-8? and I have a 3-chest set-up like in the picture. I stacked up only to ?tippy-toe? to see into the lid and top drawer! Removed the casters and built a 3? platform which brought the stack down to below eye-level. Over-all good if you snag it on sale ? like all Sears tool chests. Try to be patient and watch the on-line sales. They do a roulette everyday with these and you can always find 50-60% off the list price. My advice ? next time your other half drags you to the mall, stop down at Sears and check-out the different styles. I think the quiet-glide is best price/feature for the Saturday mechanic.
I needed a middle chest to hold some odds and ends that wouldn't fit else where. This works well. The drawers actually work better as you fill them with stuff. My top chest sits on this without deforming it or causing any problems with the drawers.

I have outgrown my toolbox 3 times. I bought a bigger one, bought a floor box and now an intermediate chest. It fits perfectly oner the floor chest and under the regular box. My only complaint is that the drawers are not as efficient on their ball bearings as I think they should be. But still a perfect match and on sale, too.
It?s a Perfect match for all of the other tool storage units that I have bought over the years. The draws open easily and will hold more tools than I have. lol Even a michigan fan can't go wrong with this! Haha

All together its nice just as in one of my other reviews. The locking feature that prevents the drawers from opening if you move it are a bit tight and to take care when opening using 2 hands and pulling from the middle don't just yank or you'll tweek the framing. I leave them resting just before the lock catches it so I don't have to fight with it.
Well made, sturdy. Drawers pull smoothly, especially after loading up the unit with tools. Nice to know that Craftsman is still building tool storage that I can count on.
A great way to gain space without taking up floor space. Needed to unclutter drawers but keep everything in one area, simple solution added space, nice deep drawers and smooth sliders. Not so thrilled about the ?grab-lock? to open drawers, thought I locked it, but got it down. Great buy, especially on sale
Good value for this stack-able box. 10 minutes after arriving in the store with my online receipt I drove off with this and another item in my car. Ball bearing draws are nice, thinner metal than I was expecting, but still decent.
The ball bearing boxes are no where near as smooth and close as easy as the quiet glide series, i bought this one to try it out and taking it back to get a quiet glide to go with the other 6 boxes i got.

Where to start... Construction: gauge of sheet metal used is thinner than previous craftsman tool boxes. It feels like a tin can compared to the top box and bottom box that it is sandwiched in now. The drawers have a slight flex compared to older craftsman tool boxes. The drawers don't close properly and are not aligned with the cabinet. All the drawers on the left side droop slightly down. If I could have given this NO STARS, I would have. I'm disappointed in the quality and workmanship that Sears now calls "high quality". The quality of the top and bottom boxes that I bought from Sears years ago outshine what Sears is pushing now.

Craftsman BB middle chests are well built and durable. Middle chests offer additional storage and can be used in different areas of the workshop. BB drawers operate smoothly and are a great addition in any garage especially when they go on sale
I'm pretty much with the sentiment that Craftsman has been going downhill and am disappointed that fewer and fewer tools with the Craftsman brand are made in america. My last Craftsman storage purchase a couple of years ago did not go so well -> lots of bent drawers right out of the box and a big hassle getting them replaced (purchased online, picked up in store which made store responsible not online and it took 6 phone transfers on 3 different tries to figure that out). I took the risk of doing the same thing again for this chest. Had no problems this time and this chest for the price I paid was a great deal.
