Not happy with this vacuum...I have purchased 5 Kennmore Progressive canister vacs in the last 15 years. They were the BEST vacuum anyone could own. The older model, couldnt be "killed. The first one I purchased is still working! it is 15 years old...my son stole it from me about 7 years ago...I bought another and two years later my other son took that one...still working...this has happened 3 times. I purchased this one with great apprehension due to the obvious changes they made. The wand is shorter, the wand is also wider, and the (couplings??) where the attachments go on are so big that they dont fit anywhere the old one did. (under dressers, behind furniture) The "easy release" foot thing is so big that it catches on the bottom of the bed and disconnects the power-mate. It wont get into corners the handle is not comfortable to hold...I could go on endlessly! I dont think the person who designed this vacuum ever used one. It LOOKS all pretty and "steamlined," but it is not functional. Perhaps if someone never experienced the previous model they will like it , but this vacuum was not made better. Lots of plastic...including the button that releases the attachments....(used to be metal) that little clip broke today...Ive had the unit for 3 months....will not be purchasing another! Sears, you should have stuck with the Tried and True!

I Own A Housekeeping Service And I Have Purchased Many Kenmore Canisters Over The Years And This Canister Vacuum Is Got To Be The Worse One Yet. The Bulky Connection Where The Powermate Attaches Makes It Hard To Get Under Low Furniture, The Vacuum Kept Spitting Out The Hepa Filter Even When Replaced, I've Had The Powermate Fall Off When Carried Down Stairs Damaging Two Customers Stairs And Wood Floors. I Will Be Giving This Vacuum A Dumpster Funeral Today As I Have Purchased A New Kenmore Canister That I Have Used Before And Was Pleased With.

I just bought the updated progressive vacuum to replace my old progressive 360 (loved it) but I'm feeling a little regretful. The wand is considerably heavier and does not extend like my old one. Not getting any younger or taller here so not sure that it was a good replacement.
The bag is too small. Vacuum the house 3 times and the bag has to be replaced and they are costly....next time, we will buy a bag-less vacuum. The hose clogs with dog hair and the angle between the hose and the bag gets jammed up. It has low vacuum suction unless you replace the bag, the HEPA filter, clean the hose and the carpet power head out. The replacement HEPA filter cost $20.00. The cord will not retract unless it is pulled straight and laid behind the vacuum. The canister opens when you pull on the hose to move the vacuum. The brush attachment requires 2 hands to remove and is ineffective in cleaning, because the brushes are too short and has a shield around it. The wheels will not roll over the vacuums' own cord. You have to lift the vacuum over it. It will not steer straight by pulling on the hose. The forward caster wheel is too small. The hose adapter end is ineffective, cleaning in corners because it is too fat, not like the old metal tubes. My rating of this vacuum is the worst in 42 years of owning Kenmore vacuums. I would recommend customers run from it!
Bought this when my 15y/o Electrolux broke right before Thanksgiving. I am sorely disappointed. The floor piece swivels too much. It is noisy. It doesn't fit between furniture legs. It is terrible on floors and fair on low pile carpets. It barely picks up puppy kibble. Spent over $200 for it, not the cheap one. I am plan on repairing my awesome Electrolux!!
This is the vacuum cleaner of my dreams. It has great suction and great accessories. It is light enough for my wife to use, and cleans in all the nooks and crannies. Great for pet hair, dust bunnies, etc.
I replaced my 8 year old Kenmore canister with this one last year because the motor died. I hate the whole design of the wand and attachments on this one. The wand is too short, there is so much excessive plastic at the top of the wand and carpet attachment that it doesn't fit under lower profile furniture. Makes it clunky and heavier than it needs to be. The bare floor attachment is much smaller (as is the crevice tool) and pivots for what reason?? The only reason I'm giving this any stars is because the suction is fine but this design needs a do over. Also, don't expect to be able to use any of your older Kenmore attachments with this vacuum. I kept mine but found none of them would fit because it's designed so you can only use what comes with it.
I have a kenmore canister vacuum that I purchased about 9 years ago which I have been thrilled with. I recently purchased this model as an extra vacuum to keep on the second floor of my home. I have been a bit disappointed. There have been a number of changes made which are not necessarily for the better. The wand is made up of multiple bulky pieces and is way too short! I am only 5'4'' and i find I have to stoop over when vacuuming, leaving me with a bit of a backache! previous model had an easily adjustable wand which is great for various cleaning options. The handle is also a bit bulky and not the most ergonomic. On the plus side, the motor seems to be more powerful. All in all, I prefer my previous model!
This vacuum works better that most uprights I have used. Maneuvers very easily. Love the cord rewind. suctions is great. I have not had long but enjoy using this far. Will not go back to an upright.
We inherited an old Kenmore canister vac, and grew to love the ease of moving it from room to room, up and down stairs, due to the weight being split between canister and vac head. When it finally died, we decided to replace it with this new one.
Bought a Kenmore vac 30 years ago, and it is my backup. The new Progressive Vacuum has way more plastic. Long story short, just outside the one year warranty, the main motor has died out. Seems to be a poor electrical connection on hose to the the handle (with the on/off switch). Do I repair or buy another brand? Deciding now.
This machine has a design flaw and since I can't find receipt due to a move across the U.S. I'm out of luck. But where the extension with the cord plugs into the bottom beater brush dohicky it is plastic and around where that flang piece is wielded, over time (roughly 2 years) it cracks and breaks away. There is no way other of fixing than buying another extension pole because of the cord.
I LOVED my Sears canister vacuum cleaner. The motor finally went up and it was not able to be repaired. I JUST wanted the same one! This one is terrible. The attachment that was stationary swivels and I seriously am getting carpal tunnel from using it. Way too much plastic as well. HUGE HUGE disappointment.

I bought this vacuum cleaner 3 years ago. For two of those years I had a cleaning lady who brought her own vacuum, so it was very lightly used, maybe once every 2 weeks. At this point the height adjustment is broken, the plastic connector between the upper and lower wands is broken, and the power to the beater head cuts in and out. Also, every time I open the case to check the bag, I expect that plastic hinge to break because it has to be forced. I came from a family that bought Ken,ore appliances all the time, but the quality is just not there anymore. I will never buy anything else with the Ken,ore name on it
I've had my Kenmore powermate since 1995. The power head finally died. Just got this new one and can't believe how bulky and clumsy it feels. The wand is heavier and so much wider, do they think we are going to suck up whole eggs through there? I wish they didn't change designs! Other than that, it seems to pick up fine.
This vaccuum is easy to use and seems to pick up the dirt and dust on the carpets and floors. I have not used it for furniture yet. The various attachments are in different places on the vaccuum (as opposed to my last Sear's canister which had all of them in one compartment).
This seems like a higher quality vacuum than previous canister vacs i have owned. Great suction and I like that it is adjustable on the wand. Also love that all the attachments have a home somewhere on the vacuum.
I have purchased Progressives for years. It always does a terrific job in getting all the dirt up. Quiet and powerful. The only issue is that the dusting attachment is a bit too big for corner areas. Still, this is a great vac.
