I bought this vacuum about 3 months ago. Using it the other night the motor started slowing and died. I took it to the repair center and they said it wasn't covered under warranty. I thought a one year warranty was just that......one year. Their CSR was very rude and offensive and they gave an excuse the filter was clogged, but the owners manual says it only needs to be replaced every 6 months. I wasted my money and I don't recommend this or any other Kenmore vacuum to anyone who wants a quality product. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!!!
I bought this vacuum as a replacement for a bagless we use on our second floor bedrooms. It works much better than the bagless and we love the better bar feature. It was on sale and a great value for the price.
Strangest thing...bags made flor this model don't fit! I was vacuuming up powdered detergent. After a few minutes I turned around and most of what I vacuumed was EVERYWHERE. The filter was not clogged, not even close. I did what I could, shifted bag and continued. This time, the poor fitting bag sprung a leak, well you can imagine the rest. Cleaning is not the most enjoyable task, but when your major cleaning tool makes everything a. Thick, white mess , what to do??? A maid?

This is the best vacuum for the money ! Hepa filter allergen bag great suction and light weight . Secondary filter can clog if bag pulls away from the hose hole it slides into, but you will notice it making a different sound like a muffled sound.
I have had two of these same vacuums. The first one was shortening out from the beater bar to the wand where it connects. it was two years old...............the second one I bought on January 23, 2014 - now starting in September it started shorting out also. From the beater bar to the wand where it connects..........it melts the plug in on the wand. I took it back to Sears and they told me they couldn't do anything about it as it was a electrical problem. I ended up buying a different on there the day I took it in. I have a warranty on it - I'm out the $199.99 I paid for it and it only lasted 8 months. What can you do for me as I already bought a different on........This vacuum that I'm having trouble with seems to be a lemon just as the first one. Somehow something is not working right to make the right connection. In fact I bought a new wand for it and it melted the plug in on that one also. Very dangerous thing to have in the house.

This vacuum is a waste of time and money. Had it for a couple months (bought the 5 year plan with it) and the motor stops working. They fix it by changing out the filters and bag (which the bag and one visible filter wasn't even bad) and charged me for it claiming that it is not under warranty. 2-3 months later did the same thing. I guess if you like to get charged $20 and have no vacuum for 2 weeks at a time just for them to tell you to change some filters and a bag that wasn't even a quarter full than be my guest. Sounds like to me they have no idea what is going on and want to waste more time. My advice is to buy something better and go elsewhere. The warranties are garbage anyways.
Glad I have returned to the canister after years of using an upright. It's quiet, the beater bar profile is low so I can vacuum under furniture, and it does not kick up dust while being used. Another feature that it helpful to me; it is light weight making it easy to move from room to room and easy to lift. What gives it however the 5 stars is the ease at which I can release the extension bar with my foot, to reach crevices and corners.
We love this vacuum, has great suction, easy to use. it has a pet attachment, which works great on the furniture for cleaning pet hair. and kids messes lol. easy bag changing. bags for it are easy to find, they have them in all the major stores. I would definitely recommend to my friends and family. love my new vac, thank you Sear's :)

I hate to vacuum but this unit makes it almost pleasant! My sister-in-law recommended this vacuum and since she'd rather clean than eat when she's hungry, I figured it MUST be a good one. I have not been disappointed. It's easy to maneuver, has a great power head, plus the attachments make cleaning easy. I also love that it easily detaches from the power head for cleaning corners or other hard to reach places. Cleaned my window valances like a breeze too! Highly recommend for the money! My only complaint is that it is ORANGE...

Just purchased as a replacement to a 15 year old Kenmore Progressive upright. This canister has very good suction, is easy to handle and has the tools onboard. It has been very good on frisee carpet, tile and low pile entryway mats. Picks up sand very well and even good sized bits of cardboard. It's a winner in my book!
I'm a bit surprised and quite disappointed by the quality here. When it came time to purchase this vac 3yrs or so ago I read the reviews, and really across the board people had nothing but positive things to say about all the Kenmore Vaccum's. I have only ever owned two other Vac's both of which were the Big "E" name brand, don't know if I'm allowed to say the name here but u get the point, and yes both were far more expensive, but both also lasted over 10 yrs. Mabey that's why I expected more here, but within the first 2 yrs I had lots small things break on the unit. The housing of the carpet head/brush attachment cracked so it continually loses a wheel, the head of the hose where it holds the wiring to power the brush attachment also had the plastic crack, the hose itself failed twice and the little prop that holds the handle upright in relation to the brush attachment really only lasted a matter of months. All of these small problems either didn't stop me from using the unit, or I repaired, and I thought ok it's had a few issues but the motor still continues to function fine and provide plenty of suction. Until recently when it didn't. The motor still runs fine but it doesn't create near the suction it used to. I went through it thinking something was physically blocking the hose or there was a leak at a seal somewhere in the body of the unit or the hose, which I've experienced before, but to no avail. I now believe that the most likely cause of this new symptom is that the motor is prob starting to lose power already and I will in short order b looking for a replacement. I may take it in to a service center for a second opinion, or mabey not since it really has already been more trouble than it's worth. I hope this particular Vaccum's an exception to the rule with kenworth although I doubt I'll gamble on a second one to find out.
I purchased the replacement bags that they recommend and they are too big for the compartment. I have to use duct tape to close the rip that occurs when you close the door to the bag compartment.
I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this vacuumn. my old one was a kenmore cannister that lasted 20 years. I read reviews about all the cannisters and saw a few that said that this vacuum was great except for the bag being too big issue. therefore I went with the panasonic as I read that they make kenmore now. when I got the panasonic it was missing the bumps that attach the hose so I returned it and bought this.i am so glad it was missing the bumps because this one is SO much better. I love how lightweight it is and how it just goes over the rug effortlessly. too soon to tell if the bag will be a issue but so far I love it. it is designed like my old one but better and much lighter for my chronic back injury.
