I have two very heavy shedding Labs and this machine is hands down, the absolute best! It cuts vacuuming time on carpets in half and my house and car are finally dog hair free. Love it!!! I only wish I would have known about the dog grooming tool... it should be included.
The quality is just not what they say, and CERTAINLY not comparable to the price. I replaced an orrick I bought at ****** (WHICH I HATED) with this, with the hope that it was a TOP NOTCH Vacuum, and its just not. While I like its slightly better then the Orrick, the Orrick was $199.99, this was more than 3 Times that!!! The suction on this is just not that great either. I have a puppy, and some throw rugs, its takes many many passes to get the hair up, while the Orrick was MUCH fast.. The pluses here are the way the handheld part works.. Very cool, great useful attachments, and the ball is cool, easy to roll around. I've been VERY seriously considering taking it back and trying the Meile. Seems like a pain, but I can tell you that when the time comes not likely I'd buy another Dyson. If it was 300, MAYBE, but 700 with tax.. not a chance..
So far this device works very well, and I enjoy emptying the bin to see the amount of debris it picks up. It is just a bit tedious on carpeted stairs as the stair attachment is so small.

It worked great the first couple of times, then it jammed up. I cleaned the filters and everything and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't pick up like it did. Took me a long time to figure out that the hose clogged up with dog hair. Am a bit disappointed because I spent a lot of $$ on this vacuum because it was supposed to be great on picking up animal hair and not clogging.
I'll be the first to say that I'm not the guy that would normally take the time to write a review about a vacuum but here I am. The DC 41 is an incredible machine. You may think you have a clean house (I certainly thought I did). After using the vacuum, I found myself appalled at how much dust and dirt had be hiding in the carpet and furniture (after regular use of our previous vacuum). My family includes two children under 2 years old and we feel its a very small price to pay to give them a MUCH cleaner carpet surfact to play and occassionally face plant on! Thanks Dyson!
Quality product with powerful suction. Easy to assemble, use and clean. Cord should have a better angle as it interferes with vacuuming operation. Other vacuums have a molded notch in the handle to restrict cord's interference.
Taking time out of my crazy schedule to praise this Dyson Vacuum ! I was very apprehensive due to the purchase cost and poor quality of other models ....I have owned many but decided it was time to try the Dyson. One rug alone in my home was purchased for $1400.00 and I have 3 of them so I needed a vacuum to keep them in good condition as they cover my Brazilian cherry hardwood floors and I need something that could handle the edges when the carpets meet the floors . this Dyson is incredible , I thought that my rugs were clean , I seen no hair , dust etc.. after using my Turbo carpet cleaning head from my central vacuum but they just seemed faded looking , Then we brought home the Dyson DC41 last night unpacked it and started our test in one rug alone the entire canister was filled with dust and hair that was not visible before we started , my husband was stunned because he was in doubt of another pricey vacuum and this one excelled our expectations !!! Do not hesitate to make your purchase for you rugs, carpets and hardwood floors it can handle all of them .. if you think your home is clean just test this vacuum and you will be shocked to see the filth that can hide in plain site .. We are thrilled and will always own only a Dyson , thank you for designing this incredible quality vacuum .
very good vaccum in many ways, I am on my second one as I gave the first to our niece and its still going strong. However, they have some minor flaws that Dyson should address First, the older ones tend to blow dust and hair around rather than suck it towards the vaccuming. Once you get better used to how to use the machine you can avoid this most of the time, but its still annoying and takes longer. second, the ball can be stiff and hard to push, which I feel could scratch hardwood like on some of my floors. Third, the detachable hose isn't long enough and is stiff, kinks easy and hard to use. The older ones were shorter yet and nearly useless. Still, by far the best vacum I have had and far superior than the cheap knock-off shark I had that died after 2 years.
My dad always had another name brand vacuum so I thought when we moved to were the beach was with our 2 dogs and cat and get a vacuum like my fathers that would work. Well instead i got a Dyson Animal Complete knowing it would do great but boy it did EVEN better! We vacuumed at 3ft by 3ft square and the amount of dirt and hair it picked up WAS amazing! I will never go back to another vaccum and I informed my dad that his old vacuum needed to be upgraded.
As a cat owner I have my animals shaved, vacuum regularly 2x per week and the carpeting white and of a higher end cost. Smug in my belief My house was clean, when my machine broke I ordered 3 brands. The Dyson was a "no vacuum cleaner is worth $699 retail" unless I say it is challenge. After using this vacuum I felt I should be paying Dyson it out performs the imagination. It left me humbled by the amount of dirt it extracted even after testing the two others prior. The method of storage for the extension wand was a pleasant surprise and for those unhappy w/ its flexibility, with use it becomes more pliable. I would like to warn that this vacuums suction is VERY strong and if you have low end cost carpeting you risk fiber damage. Overall I'm pleased and confirm the product has met all of its intentions and applications,
I can't say how much I love the Dyson animal vacuum. I have two of them, one I've had for about a year and I just acquired another one for the top level of my house so I don't have to carry it upstairs all the time. I used to have a great and expensive vacuum from another brand - at least I thought it was great until I got a Dyson. I vacuumed with the other brand and assumed my rugs were clean. Then I vacuumed with the Dyson and was stunned at the amount of pet hair and debris that came out of my carpets. Since I've been using the Dyson I have no more fleas in my home so no need to use toxic poisons on my dogs or my home. Thank you Dyson for a fabulous product!
this is a great vacuum. got this one for my mom and dad, because ours did an amazing job in our house. the pet hair is sucked from the floors and carpet quickly.

This is the second time I've cleaned our house with this vacuum. I must say I am very impressed at the quality and engineering that has gone into this thing. Its ability to remove dirt, dust and animal hair is stellar to say the least. We have two cats, one with long hair and a short hair. Its lightweight and highly maneuverable form factor makes cleaning quick and easy. The attachments are well made and allow you to reach high and get into small spaces easily. AIso I was able to zoom around the house without upsetting the cats as it is not as loud as other vacs. I'd buy another one and recommend anyone with pets to give this a serious look.
My girlfriend and I purchased a fairly new home in Southeast Texas 6 months ago, and she wanted a new vacuum. She chose the Animal Complete because we have 1 little dog and 1 very large black lab and they both love to shed..... a lot, and this vacuum looked reliable enough to do a good job. We have stained concrete floors down stairs and carpet up. We vacuum twice a week, and the Animal takes it all in stride. It sucks up everything! when I empty the canister, it blows my mind that all that stuff was in my carpet or on the floor. All the attachments really make cleaning fast and easy. I'm glad we made the right choice with the Dyson.
I bought this vacuum unsure of how it would compare to my old DC07, my 07 technically has "more suction". This vacuum, however, seems to make more efficient use of the power that it wields. The beater brush and it's housing sit more flush with my carpet which is why I think it is pulling the carpet up to a more fluffy, sucked clean state. My husband loves how much quieter it is than the 07. It moves easily from the carpet to my large area rug without pulling the rug up and getting caught. The turbine tool works great on the dog beds, no clogging, stalling, tangles, or loss of power like other "turbo brushes." While I am super happy with the way it sucks, it does have some drawbacks. Using an attachment to clean crevices, hard floors and such is a bit of a chore and does make me miss my old DC07. The wand that was metal and much longer because of it's handle on my 07 is plastic and quite a bit shorter without the handle on this model. Lighter, yes... but bending over or stretching to reach is killing my back. And well, the metal just seemed much sturdier. As did the dust bin of my DC07, this new one feels quite fragile so banging it to release the dirt into the trash makes me nervous... hence pulling it out with my hand (gross!) I'm all for a lighter vacuum, but with 2 dogs and a child I need sturdy and functional more than light-weight. I also miss being able to tip the thing onto it's back wheels and push it into another room, with this one you must pull rather than push when you tip it onto it's back wheels (less ergonomic.) And the ball... ah, well it doesn't move very easily or gracefully on my hard floor without the beater brush turning. I think the ball works great on the carpet, but I must stick with my little cordless sweeper for the hard floors in our house. Even with it's flaws, I really like this vacuum. If you have mostly carpet in your home, you will like it too. If you have mostly hard floors, perhaps try one of the canister vacuums that Dyson makes as it seems like it would be easier to navigate and control on hard floors. I vacuum everything, doing what I call "dyson dusting" and go around the house sweeping air duct registers, baseboards, furniture, lamp shades, and appliances. So, it is an important tool in my house and I have very high expectations. I have had a LOT of vacuums and while this one isn't perfect, so far it is the best I've owned. I really did my homework before making my purchase, so I can confidently say that for the difference in price and features, I think I would have been just as happy with a DC25.
I just received my new Dyson, put it together, and began using it. It immediately began to get hot around the ball section that has the filter. It is so hot that the carpet I vacuum also becomes hot. I have had a Dyson in the past, different model, and this never occurred. Is this normal or harmful to the vacuum? I have been searching for this answer online and have found none. Besides this worry the vacuum is just as wonderful as my previous model. it makes my carpet fluffier than I thought it could be and the amount of dirt and hair it picks up is amazing!
Read all reviews and was going to by self propel vacuum that was much cheaper, it was rated higher by consumer reports than the Dyson; but after reading reviews how it broke down decided to spend the money and by my first Dyson. Dyson reviews said it would hold up to heavy use. Love it, it pick up a ton of dog hair. We have to black labs, can't see the hair, but the Dyson suck it up. Easy use, if though it is not self propelled. We are glad we bought it. Only con: we try using it on the marble and tile to suck the dog hair; but it leaves black marks, so we stop using it on the tile and marble.
This is the best vacuum we have ever owned. I had an Oreck before and thought it was doing a fine job, until I tried out our son's Dyson. I was hooked the first time I used his DC25. Tried out the DC41 the first night we brought it home and it did a great job! I am now a Dyson fan.
I was a skeptic for a long time, but after going through all of the vacuums you can think of from in the 70's until 2013...this is by far the most outstanding vacuum. We have always had numerous pets, both cats and dogs. I recently broke down and ordered this model. Received it on Friday...did the test, and since Friday have used it 3 times. Still picking up hair that was missed by prior machine. My rugs look brighter. It is truly amazing, and seems quite easy to use. The only minus, and it is very small, is that the tool does not go under furniture easily, unless you use a different attachment. Small price to pay for such wonderful performance. Believe me, I've had all the high end machines. This is the best.
