Had a water leak in basement. Purchased to dry out the area and it worked great. The bucket is easy to remove and dump with its handy handle. Only one wish is that the fan would cycle on and off with the unit when the desired humidity setting has been reached. For the money, a great buy.
Bought and installed this unit this morning. I read all the instructions. Turned it on and it shut off after 5 minutes. The "tank full" light comes on after a few minutes and shuts the unit off. I did read the reviews on the 30 pint unit but when i went to the store i ended up purchasing this one. Mistake! Back to the store...

I use it in a basment in a townhouse, the fan clears the musty smell quickly and keeps the air moving. A full bucket of water is produced twice a day. It gets the air down to the 30's in moisture, and the 40's when it is hot and humid out, Over all it looks and works great in a corner.
Do not waste your money. Just purchased the 50 pt. dehumidifier because our previous working one was recalled. This one is poorly constructed and does not work out-of-the-box. I hate being Sears Quality Control !! The Bucket Full indicator blinks continually. Being an Engineer, I figured out the switch is not properly located to activate.

We've had the dehumidifier in service for 3 weeks in our basement. It seems to be bringing the humidity down pretty well--so well in fact that I had to go back and purchase the hose as the container was filling up more frequently than I could get down to dump it. The water container is tucked very sleekly into the front of the dehumidifier for a very clean look but is awkward to empty without splashing all over. It needs a better pouring spout. I like the feature allowing you to set the humidity level of the room but I haven't figured out what the number is that shows the rest of the time. I think the instruction manual could give a little more information on this.

Warmed my living room by 6 degrees. Nothing in the info on line mentioned the heat output. Did do the job as promised on reducing the humidity but the room was 86 degrees. If I had a suit.able basement I would put it there. Have decided to return this unit and do more research.
I really like this dehumidifier. It is very compact, very quiet and does a great job in keeping the moisture out of my finished basement. It has a great look to it as well.
Original dehumidifier recalled by Sears. Purchased this model as replacement. Would never shut off even when it reached the set humidity level. Returned it and was given another one which I was assured would work. No such luck. Same problem. Returned it and and purchased one somewhere eldse

The digital readout showed 'bucket full' as soon as it was plugged in, and I can't get it to run continuously, based on humidity levels. It runs when it wants. The drain hose is attached, but does not work. Water can be emptied by removing the bucket, but that is NOT useful to me.
Got the dehumidifier plugged it in, connected it to a hose and very shortly it stopped working display showed bucket full. Could not reset and did not reset automatically, had to unplug and shortly there after quit running again back to the unplugging. Called for service. This is not normal for a Sears product only bought it because the old one was recalled, Wish I still had the old one.

I bought the dehumidifier 3 weeks ago and it's working well so far. My experience with a previous Sears dehumidifier beginning three years ago went like this: First year; worked well. Second year: coils iced up constantly and I had to turn it off for long periods to thaw it out. Third year: refrigerant leaked out, it becomes a high priced fan and not worth repairing. My advice is to get the extended warranty.
