Worst refrigerator purchase I have ever made. Have had refrigerator for almost 3 years and have had 6 service calls. Same problem every time and Sears will not acknowledge the refrigerator has an issue. Thank goodness I bought 3 year extended warranty or Sears would not have replaced parts. Very disappointing experience with Sears. Have heard similar experiences with Kenmore Elite refrigerators. I strongly suggest you do not buy a Kenmore Elite refrigerator similar to this design.
Really love the ample room of the new Kenmore Elite and all in the same space as our old fridge. BTW, I hated that Kenmore from the start. Only thing that bothers me right now is the cold sweat mark that outlines the ice maker, on the freezer door. Unless i get an explanation for the sweat mark on the door, I would not recommend this Fridge to a friend.
Sears, LG and Kenmore know the "energy saving" function kills the compressor and the electrical/computer panel and you will have to pay $456.08 to "Sears Service" for the labor and parts to fix a known manufacturer's defect. If you are lucky enough for it to break outside of the 1 year manufacturer's warranty, Sears Service will claim it is not their issue and give you an address to mail a letter and offer $65 off. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. It looks pretty but it is a piece of garbage and they know it. If I could have given it 0 stars, I would have.
Do NOT purchase this refrigerator! Ours was purchased in Nov. 2012 and needed a new circuit board and freezer fan and motor in Feb. 2013 just 3 months into owning the refrigerator. Now, exactly 12 months later the same problems and Sears will not take any responsibility. The receipt for the previous repair totals $578.28 which was covered by warranty. Now they will not cover the same problem. After being shuffled around to find satisfaction, "Kurt" (company security policy disallowed him to give me his full name) stated I need to contact LG directly stating it is not Sears problem. Really Sears, you had no problem taking over $2000 from me, but now you will take no responsibility. The "best" they could do was offer us $65 off repair costs. In my research of this problem I've found out that the Department of Energy has removed the Energy Star rating for this model due to LG maliciously and intentionally inserting a circuit board that could identify when testing was being done ands shut down key parts of the refrigerator to increase energy efficiency. The circuit board is being replaced if repairs are needed during the first year, as mine was, but it doubles the energy consumption. This was never explained to us, so we are being lied to by Sears and LG and now stuck with a ill functioning refrigerator. We are so angry over this situation and contacting our local media and attorneys. PLEASE save yourself this trouble and find another company to make your purchase with - one that will stand behind their products and customers!!

The parts and labor warranty is only one year but certain parts are 5 years and the linear compressor is 10 years. Th el-compressor is supposed to be less noisy. It's been my experience that the compressor is what goes bad most often as was the case on my last Kenmore. The ice cube design is nice (small squares). The last fridge had semi-circle type cubes that fit the form of a cup and blocked the liquid or road up on your lip.

Purchased this fridge september 2011 and had a problem from go. The ice maker was repaired and the board in the freezer within two months. The repair man told me not to open it to much. (really)?....I thought he was joking. Would get er ff then it would go away. this went on for six months finally on January 31, 2014 it died...just blows hot air. It never kept the food cold and I could not keep ice cream in the freezer it would turn to mush.I have been reading several complaints online. What amazes me is sears continues to sell this product. Definetly not worth $2,500 for two years. I think it's time for a class action suit!!!! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.I have six children and my food is in coolers. SHAME ON SEARS
After 28 years it was time to replace my 22cu ft Amana. After much research I narrowed it down to the highly rated Kenmore or LG french door. For the most part they are the same other than a couple of features. What I liked better about the Kenmore was the tilt down freezer drawer, the air tight crisper produce bin, and that both top shelves slide in some to make room for tall items as needed. Only had it for a few days, and only concern as of now is when I tried the crushed ice and little pieces flew around my glass on to the floor. I love all the space, but if you are shorter than 5'2, you'll have to stretch to reach the back of the top shelf!
It offers the most of all the fridges out there and believe me I looked. It has two adjustable shelves and more storage room on the side shelves. The bottom drawer tilts. I just hope the quality is good I guess we will see. I bought a Kenmore elite dishwasher and regretted it. Appliancies don't last like they used to, I have been told for all of them.
Love the spaciousness and lighting. No more hunting for items crammed in the back of my old side by side. Was concerned door storage wouldn't be enough but it is fine. Love the meat and cheese drawer, so easy to find things - no more molding cheese buried in the back. Was most concerned ice wouldn't be enough but it's fine. I periodically dump the ice from the door into the tray in the bottom section and no shortage of ice yet. Ice and water dispenser is great. Freezer also easy to find things. Have unloaded much of the food from my extra fridge and freezer in the garage into this one cause so much space so less walking to garage to get food. After much research I think we made a great choice.
I have now had 3, count them, new refrigerators delivered in my home and not 1 of them has held the temp. I have had to throw out my food which has registered between 40-45 degrees 3 times and of course, the maintenance contract doesn't cover it because they "closed" the complaint because I opted for a new fridge instead of repair (had company and it was the holidays). This makes no sense to me, my food was still bad no matter the solution. Anyway, BUY a refrigerator thermometer if you have bought this fridge. If you haven't bought it DON"T!! I still don't have a working refrigerator and repair can't get the part for 8 more days!! Awful service and bad refrigerator.
Had ours for 13 months. Love the storage space, but hate the reliability issues. Had to replace first parts at 5 months. Just after the 12 month mark, we're experiencing ER FF. Takes weeks for Sears to get the parts, and then repair fails within a day. Search the web... these fridges are failing in mass amounts. Tons of people having problems with error codes, circuit boards, ice maker issues... this is a lemon.
This fridge has so much space. I love how the icemaker does not take up valuable space in the fridge like other models. The shelves at the top that slide back for tall items come in handy. all the bins are clear so I can see what I have in the fridge instead of digging thru the bins. It also looks very nice and sleek with my new suite of Kenmore Elite appliances that I choose for a kitchen remodel the only reason I gave the fridge 4 stars is the fact that I have not had it long enough to comment on reliability
I'm AMAZED at how much longer food stays fresh in this refrigerator, even food that's not stored in the temperature/humidity controlled air tight drawers. And the freezer holds a LOT! Love the Grab-n-Go door and the pantry drawer! The only drawback is that it's hard to fit a glass tight enough to the in-door ice dispenser to prevent a few chips of ice from hitting the floor. But it's not a big problem and not enough to downgrade it to Good. I am entirely pleased with this purchase.
I originally purchased a Kenmore Elite side by side 15 years ago and loved it. Best ice maker ever and tons of space. Love this one so far. Ice despenser could be quiter. Hard to know what you will need until you put something to use. I found I filled the space of this fride and will have no additional space for that cake or party tray when entertaining. However, I am looking forward to enjoying this quality item for years to come.
After several weeks of reading reviews and visiting Sears we finally decided on this fridge. So far, we are pleased. It has tons of space and now I can easily see everything in my fridge unlike with my side by side where we had tons of stuff jammed together on tiny shelves. The freezer is awesome. I did my large grocery shopping trip and my frozen foods fit great and I could probably even squeeze in another thing or two. The front does scratch easily. I learned that right away when I grabbed the fridge door handle and my fingernails left fine scratches on the door. It also does fingerprint easily. With a family of 5 (3 young boys) we get lots of prints. I picked up a stainless cleaner/polish at ***** and it really works well to reduce the fingerprints and scratches. I recommend applying this as soon as the fridge arrives. The fridge was installed by 6pm and we had some cubes of ice and the freezer was at freezing temp by 10p. You will have to dump your first couple of bins of ice per manufacturer instruction to make sure you eliminate unwanted particles in cubes from water line. Same thing with water. We so far love this fridge. We did not purchase the expensive extended warranty since we have a home warranty (which actually costs about the same as the fridge warranty) and it covers all of our appliances. Of course we hope to never need it. I would give 5 stars if not for easy scratches and fingerprinting. It sure does look great too! :) Treat yourself. I DO recommend.
I have never spent so much on a refrigerator and have not had it long but I have found Sears to be very responsive and I have a full replace or repair warranty. I still have the side by side purchased in 1997 and have only ever had one service call on it. I wanted one to last and hold everything. I know Whirlpool used to make them but was surprised to find LG made this one. I also have the factory warrantee. This is the largest made and it holds everything, It is amazing!
We are very happy with our purchase. This fridge offers a lot of extra space and it is beautifully designed. The spacious freezer compartments are great for someone like me who likes to cook ahead and freeze dinners. No complaints here.
