The 3D Blu-Ray Player works great with my Samsung Smart TV

It was time for a new TV. So I bought a Samsung Smart TV and also upgraded to a 3D Blu-ray Player. It is fantastic! The 3D aspect can be seen from almost anywhere in my room! Plus all DVDs look great on the smart TV. And to my great surprise, Netflix works wonderfully over my wifi network. The only small issue I have is that the controls on the unit are black and cannot be seen in anything less than sunlight. It has taken me 3 months to get used to hitting the right position on the circle to eject and play my DVDs.

Works well, but often slow

This product is pretty good. The buttons are difficult to use and it is often slow to connect to the Internet.

The features are extremely impressive, much more than the competition offers. I do happen to have a defective unit that at times quit in the middle of a program. However, the unit is under warranty and the technical support team is second to none. You can allow their team control of your unit in order to have them analyze the problem. They verified that my unit had a glitch and arranged that I can return it for repair or replacement. I am very impressed with Samsung and the total dedication that they offer their customers. Really reliable product

Have had this unit in steady use for several months now with absolutely no issues. Don't use the 3D capability too much, but it works fine when I do. Plays 2D blu-ray disks flawlessly and upcoverts DVDs without stuttering or pixelating. Stays locked on to the WiFi network for uninterrupted streaming and background software updates. Streaming apps include Amazon Prime. Web browser and alphanumeric keyboard entry are awkward, but no more so than any similar unit without a motion sensitive remote control. All in all, the best BR player I've come across for the cost.

Release too early

I found that the blue ray player did not work when received, most blue ray disk would not play and the player stop playing blue ray disk and had to be returned, when the replacement was received there was a firm ware update that enabled the player to play blue ray disk, Samsung has always been the first choice for all entertainment products, this was released before the engineers had insured that it would work, their failure is not acceptable, an FMEA would have alerted them that there were problems.

Worked great until it stopped working

I bought this unit in January, 2014. It is now May 2014, not quite 4 months, and it refuses to recognize ANY discs. Not Blu-Ray, DVD, or CD. Everything I insert gives the message "No disc inserted". I tried the full, hard reset and that did nothing. I expect more than 4 months service out of a Blu-ray player. I am VERY disappointed.

Horrible for streaming videos

Do not buy if you want to stream videos. The screen flashes white every time i try to stream Netflix or Hulu. Firmware is up to date and there is no help from Samsung. RUN AWAY!

A must have for any home theater system. Pairs nicely with my Samsung 55 3D tv. Very simple to use. iOs application is nice compliment as well.

My first Blu-Ray player

This Blu-Ray player was a snap to connect to my Samsung TV. Setting it up took minutes. When I tested an old DVD, I could not believe the difference as compared to when i connected a regular DVD player and viewed the same movie. Watching some of my older DVDs will be a pleasure especially I since I don't have to replace them to see them in HD quality. the player is lightweight and very slim. the touch controls are sensitive but you can adjust to them really quick. Interface on the screen is very easy to navigate and understand.

it works as a blu ray and can get you on to netflix

So when I bought this player I thought I was getting a super cool unit. However the problems started almost right away. After it went through its initial setup and updates. I tried to get onto Netflix and it then said I needed a update.... which was weird because it had just gone through all of them. It took forever. And by forever I mean I started it and walked away for ten minutes, came back and still had to wait. The next thing is the built in browser....... horrible thing that is useless without buying a some form of keyboard mouse combo that runs off of one USB port. Oh and by the way after it being open for more then a few minutes it will either pop up a screen saying something about running out of memory in the cache, or just freeze and force you to pull the plug (you have to unplug it cause just turning it off and on will just get you back to the frozen screen). Oh and the whole apps thing? I thought that would be its saving grace but it only uses Samsung's apps. . . Let me put it this way, they aren't the best.

Better than any others I've tried

This Blu Ray DVD player is so easy to use and the disk loads faster than any others that I've had and I've had quite a few. I have 3 other ones right now besides this one. The Wi Fi feature makes your TV a smart TV, you don't need a smart tv if you have this player. I'm totally pleased with my purchase and I would buy another the next time.

COOL BLU-RAY

I was greatly pleased with the features on the Blu-Ray player. I can use a lot of the various apps and sinc several devices with the player. As well movies, DVD and BLU-RAY, show up very well and clear. It makes me wish I had purchased the smart-tv as well. Very great products overall.

Great value

Purchased for spare bedroom and to hook up to a non-smart Samsung LED HDTV. Perfect match as this DVD player has all the features you need. To me, it didn't make sense to purchase a smart TV and then buy a DVD player with the same features. So in my case, and for the amount of use this combo was going to see, it was the right combination. DVD's load quickly and play without any problems. Small footprint and small remote don't clutter up limited space usually found in spare bedrooms. Features, price and Samsung quality were key to purchase.

I'VE PREVIOUSLY BOUGHT 4 SONY BLU-RAY SMART BOXES AND MOST RECENTLY A BLURAY SONY WITH GOOGLE TV. OUT OF ALL OF THE OTHERS THAT I SANG THE PRAISES OF, THIS F5900 IS IN AN DIFFERENT STRATOSPHERE IN COMPARISON. I READ THE CNET REVIEW, AND DECIDED TO GIVE THIS ONE TRY. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT A LOT OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL HAS BEEN GIVEN BY THE GORGEOUS, HIGH PERFORMANCE REFINEMENT. I ONLY WISH THAT I'D RESEARCHED MORE A LONG TIME AGO, AND DISCOVERED THIS ONE, SO THAT I WOULDN'T HAVE WASTED SO MUCH MONEY ON MANY RUDIMENTARY DEVICES, THAT LEFT SO MUCH TO BE DESIRED

Great value for the money. I'm not a big app user but the picture quality and ease of use make this worth it even if it had no apps, so the apps are just a bonus to me.

This product was purchased for our Master Bedroom. Great quality for the money. Didn't need all the bells and whistles. Just needed something to view cd's. We don't have cable on this TV. So this is just right when you want to watch TV in Bed.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great blue ray

Great buy for the price you get more. 3D ready and comes with everything you need to go online. It turned the tv into a smart tv. Can surf the web to anywhere you want. The Blue Ray player is excellent. The remote is a bit hard to navigate with on the web browser as the pointer moves really slow. The apps have a small selection well for my taste anyways though it has the more main stream apps as well. Some videos in the web browser is hard to put them to play in large screen. Without the remote can't navigate the content. other than playing dvd's or blue rays.

Be aware of 2 issues

We've been using this player for 7 months now. It has 2 issues that are quite annoying. 1- when powering up for the first time every day we have to re-connect to the wireless. We don't have to re-enter the password - just go into setting and select our wireless, let it connect. We always use it first thing when we get home to play Pandora. We are able to go to the home screen, select Pandora, then it gives the network error message. Then have to go reconnect. It's annoying extra steps every day. 2 - speaking of annoying extra steps. Samsung pushes their own "Recommended Ap" to the home screen. You don't get to pick what Ap's show up on the Home Screen! When we first got it, Pandora was on the home screen, making our daily use of the Blu-ray easy. But on the most recent update, Samsung pushed THEIR recommended Ap to the home screen. So now extra steps #AGAIN# to get to what we use every day. Samsung is NOT being customer-focused here!!
