Amazing!
Sears had the cheapest price (I paid $69) with free overnight shipping! They delivered on Xmas Eve! I LOVE this player with Wi-Fi (to watch Netflix, listen to Pandora, etc). It's simply amazing and at a great cost! Even worth the normal $100 price tag.

Bought this in April and it is junk! Sometimes it won't power on, if it does the tray won't come out so you can put the disc in. If you do get the disc in, maybe it will play but most of the time it won't. Going this weekend to replace it.

The first time the BluRay image came up on my big-screen plasma TV, my wife and I were speechless. The color was so deep and layered, it looks astounding. And streaming HiDef via Netflix and Hulu is similarly stunning. Overall the set-up and operation for my new player was a snap. Although it is a slightly older model that I bought on a close out, it has operated flawlessly since installation. I couldn't be more pleased. Now my whole family "runs home" every evening to decide what we will stream or watch on our Samsung. It has become the centerpiece of our entertainment. Thank you.

Player dropps its connection

Every time I try to play a movie on Netflix the wifi connection gets lost, I know it is not my router because my Iphone stays connected and my other devices don't have this problem, I have tried everything from other users, still the same problem, it might need a new firmware update I don't know it is frustrated watching a movie and the wifi either rebuffers or stops completely.

Great value for the money

The BD-E5400 is great value. Comes with built-in WiFi which makes connecting to the web so much easier. In addition it has a small foot-print, smaller than most text books. The remote control is clear & easy to use with a Netflix button right in the middle as well as a Pandora button. Setup was simple and the walk-through was easy to follow & intuitive. The apps are adequate beginning with Netflix and include, Pandora and YouTube. Would definitely recommend this player.

Great first Blu-ray

This is my first blu-ray and I couldn't be happier. It's small, fits in with the rest of my electronics. Very easy to get set up. Has some features I haven't used yet, though I do plan on doing so when time permits. I really enjoy the fact that I can plug in my external usb drive and play movies that I had backed up on it.

dont lose your remote

idk why this product has such good reviews.. it freezes constantly with netflix.. has to be unplugged to be reset, the touch control is nice. but with the only options being play, pause, stop, eject don't lose your remote.. cause it will only function as a dvd/br-dvd player.. in my opinion. its nice and small that about all it has going for it.. also lacks an Ethernet connection.. so don't go too far from your wireless router... the 2 star rating is because I own quite a few Samsung products. but this is not one I would recommend

Stopped working after 9 months

I trust Samsung as a brand, but this Blu Ray player let me down. The controls were always very slow, but I didn't think that was a huge issue. Then, after about 9 months of extremely light use, it can't read ANY discs anymore. It doesn't matter if I put in a blu ray or a dvd, I've tried many discs (even ones that used to work in this player), and after it spins the disc for awhile, I get an error message that it can't read the disc. I decided to just use it for Netflix. That worked for about a week, and now I can't watch a movie on Netflix without it freezing up. The only way to get it to do anything is to unplug the device and wait, then start up Netflix all over again. This thing is a piece of junk. :(

Got it cheap, but it didn't last.

I bought this at a fairly cheap price off the shelf. Unfortunately, it only lasted long enough for the warranty to expire. As it is right now, it's a gamble every time I put a Blu Ray disc in. Sometimes it feels like loading, sometimes...not so much. Another problem I have is with the mandatory anti-piracy software, Cinavia. While I understand this has nothing to do with Samsung, as it's actually the law that every BluRay player manufactured after 2012 have this, I still think it's a bunch of malarkey. I half suspect that the mandatory software is the root of the problem. Instead of allowing manufacturers to develop their own software that will work with the products they make, broad legislation forces them to cobble something together to maybekindasorta work.

Disappointing

I bought this Blu-ray player for a bedroom tv. I was looking for something mainly to use with netflix. However, this player is frustrating to say the least. It constantly freezes when streaming and takes forever to reload. Fairly often it totally freezes and the only way to fix it is to unplug it from the wall. At first I thought it was an issue with my WIFI but this is the only device in the house that does this. I would not recommend this player.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!

I purchased this player from Best Buy and pretty much as soon as I got had problems with it. The wifi connectivity is fair at best and consistently freezes up when viewing netflix! This unit is very slow with downloading and my router is located directly next to this player, sooo not sure why it's so slow? As has been mentioned in previous reviews when it freezes player must be unplugged from wall in order to reset, pressing the power button will not do anything. Also as mentioned by others when pushing the pad usually doesn't work well and is very frustrating. This player obviously isn't the most expensive which I didn't mind paying more for a player that would've worked better but the Best Buy salesman said this one was "good". Obviously some blame should be passed on to the salesman who had no idea what this product was really like or would never have recommended it. So all in all not a happy customer! Don't know that I will purchase any more Samsung products after this even though I used to buy them all the time. Apparently you can't use the same nickname as somebody else! Even if you have the same name... That's ridiculous! How hard can we make it to post a review?

The connection with Netflix is constantly buffering , then freezing. Must unplug device to reset the connection.

good paper weight

It is great for a great a paper weight. I have had problem with it after three weeks. I thought it was my internet connection turns out, it was the player. If it freezes which it does, you have to unplug it from the wall to get it working again. The blue ray player plays movies sometimes, when it wants. I lost my money! DO NOT GET!!!

Samsung Blu-ray player

This is an excellent little blu-ray player that will play all forms of bluray disks and dvd disks even cd disks can be played in it. For the size it shows a beautiful picture. It has the built in Wi-Fi that lets you get online to stream movies from different sites.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Really good product

Wanted a blu-ray player to work with my older Samsung TV and this works like a charm. Easy setup and easy to use. Can't see a thing wrong with it.

Good value. Netflix crashes a bunch.

Easy to use and a good value for the money but the Netflix app has it's problems. My unit has crashed several times after watching an episode on Netflix. If I try to start another show the unit goes to a blank screen and locks up. The only way to proceed is to unplug the unit and reboot it. I may return the unit if a fix is not ordered.

Excellent for the price

I got this DVD player primarily to use for Netflix...however, after receiving it, I am now using it for everything. I have a Samsung TV as well, so the remote control automatically is synced up. So I can control both devices with one remote. The only issue, since I have to find something, is there is no light indicator when the unit is on. So, unless you change formats and decide to go to the DVD player homescreen, you really can't tell if its on or not. But that is the only issue. For the price, I could not ask for a better product. And I love that it automatically plays the highest version of the DVD, so everything looks HD.

Horrible Blu Ray Player.

When I bought this blu ray player, it's very noisy with loading, which is not a problem. But, the features on it load very slow. It's always had a network connectivity problems... Not even a year later it won't even connect to the internet. I have several blu ray players and NONE of them have had issues connecting to wifi. This is a waste of money, might as well buy a DVD player because that's all you're getting with this product. It's more like a special DVD player that can play DVDs & blu ray discs. Good luck if you want to test your luck out with it. ** A real idea blu ray player if you don't want to use features or connection with the internet or want a product that lasts over 6 months.**

Samsung continues to shine

This is my first Blu-ray player, but not my first Samsung product. The player is well designed, easy to use, and works really well...except for one aspect. There is a severe issue with the player hanging up while using the Netflix app. The only way that I can resume use of the player after it hangs is to unplug and restart. It was annoying at first, and now it's just plain frustrating. Aside from that, I love this thing, and everything else Samsung makes.

Unit is Junk

I have this unit and unfortunately bought one for a friend as well. The Wifi doesn't work well at all. The Netflix App always freezes and you have to unplug the unit just to get it back. Once it does you cannot do anything until you unplug it. I had to hook up a Wii to use for apps to my TV and just use this a a disc player only. If you are looking for a good deal, i would suggest something else.

Good Buy

Just what I needed because of its "Smart" capabilities to use on my Samsung HDTV which does not have "Smart" capabilities. I actually bought another one for my Granddaughter for Christmas because she likes to watch Netflix. It is much easier to use this item rather than a gaming console.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
