I bought one of these because a lawn company wanted $400 to aerate my lawn of about half an acre. Well it was money well spent not mention the savings this is bringing. It payed for itself the first time I used it. Did an excellent job on the lawn. Cant wait for next year to see my new lawn. Highly recommend it. Installation was simple.

After reading all the reviews I decided to purchase this. It didn't take 3 hours to assemble. It took about an hour. I aerated with about 100lb weight and was happy with the results. I decided to do it again with 135lb wieght and liked the results even more. I plan to do it again in the spring when the ground is not so hard. I used to rent an aerator every year but never again. This way is alot easier on my body.
By using the aerator early in May the watering stayed in the yard and not running down the street. Aerating in July kept the lawn green with less watering.
The unit is quite heavy. It's not too difficult to put together. I'd say it takes less than 30m. Overall build quality is okay. It's an aerator so it's designed to poke holes in the ground. For the most part it does just that. However: - You definitely need to add a decent amount of weight. In my case this meant over 100lbs. - Once you add the weight you are going to have some trouble going up inclines. - You really need to drive slow with this unit. This isn't easy with all lawn tractors. - You definitely cannot use the lift handle when you are driving. First, it goes down so low it's nearly impossible to reach without triggering the seat shutoff. Second, once you add 100lbs to the back it is very hard to lift the handle. - Also once you load the unit down with weight the aeration plugs will hit a solid surface even when the wheels are down. Overall, it's a good unit for the money; however, I'd prefer a narrower unit with closer spacing that I can pull faster.
Comes in several pieces. Be sure to have time to put it together. Very sturdy. You will definitely need to add weights to it so that it will punch through the ground properly. Works great.

We were a little hesitant to buy this product, not sure it would really work well for our lawn. Took a little time to put together, but once we completed putting the aerator together, we hooked it up to our lawn tractor and started aerating our lawn. We were surprised in how well a job it did for us. Just after we did our 1/2 acre of lawn, it started to down pour. After a week went by we actually notice how thick and green the lawn was getting since we used the aerator. We are well pleased and very satisfied. We would highly recommend this Aerator to anyone that is thinking of buying this model. We believe we will get our money's worth out of this product made by Craftsman.
I had read all of the warnings about the edges being sharp and was careful, but still found a slice on my leg when I was done. The instructions were pretty clear and I didn't have much difficulty, aside from it being awkward to work with. After a good rain I took it out with three 40lb bags of lime in the back. It pulled plugs pretty consistently as long as I went slowly, but that was fine. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.
For something that doesn't cost a lot, it does a decent job. We have very hard clay and with 3 blocks on, this was able to pull plugs up nicely. Hopefully will last us a very long time.
This item is well made, heavy duty, works great! Great buy for the price and found nearby in a local Sear's store! Exactly what my Husband wanted and we didn't even see in person prior to purchasing.

THIS AERATOR IS EASY TO HOOK UP TO THE RIDING MOWER ONCE IT'S BEEN ASSEMBLED, GLAD MY HUSBAND WAS HOME TO DO THAT FOR ME. HAD TO ADD EXTRA WEIGHT TO GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY.
checked the contents of packages with the parts list. should have received 2-1.33" in spacers, 2- 1" spacers and a 3.7" spacer. What I received was 4-1.33" spacers and 2-3.7" spacers. Rather than pack everything up and take it back, I cut everything to fit. Once assembled, it works great.
Assembly instructions were very clear and helpful. Quality is good (surprisingly) for the price. Works well. Wish I would have bought this years ago.

The aerator works well, assembly was not to difficult and the product seems to be very stable for utilizing behind the four wheeler.

I have been searching for one for a while and this one seem to be the best bang for the buck. I saw some used ones on craigslist but for a few more dollars I could have a new one. Put it together in about a half hour very simple and packed well JUST BE CAREFUL THE KNIVES ARE SHARP
Seems to be a pretty nice aerator so far. It was a little difficult to assemble, do to the illustrations could be better. But this unit works great though, pulls 2" plugs out of wet, hard, clay soil, and probably 3" plugs on the softer parts of my yard. I was really surprised!
I got this aerator on a Thursday and put it together with a minimal amount of effort. I am not a big instruction reader but followed the outline and it went together well. I loaded it down with about 60 lbs of landscape stones and was surprised with the depth and ease of plugs being removed from my yard. Overall is a good aerator and I will use it for many more years as I really don't expect any problems.
No parts missing & none left-over. Straight-forward assembly if one follows the instructions, which I did this time. Design struck good balance (i.e., solidly constructed w/out being overly heavy). Only defect I found is that one of the inner tubes had a small hole right out of the box. I replaced the tube with one that's self-sealing and has a metal valve. That said, I still prefer pneumatic tires, because they're easier on the grass & weigh less than the sold, flat proof alternatives. Won't use this until 2nd week of October, but expect good results & many seasons of use. The price is about the cost of a one-time professional aeration, which makes for a pretty easy financial decision.

Was delivered assembled(badly). Bolts not tightened, tines installed backwards, bushings missing. wheels upside down so it could not be rolled.... After I disassembled it and put it back together correctly it works fine. Would be nice to have a manual and parts list but it's not rocket science to see it was not properly assembled. Don't know if this was a factory or warehouse issue.
Took a little time to put together but instructions made sense and were easy to follow. Just don't expect to take out of the box working, take your time and follow the steps. I used the cardboard from the packaging to sit under some cinder blocks so it doesn't scratch and it worked well. May need to go over the lawn twice but I was happy with the strength and job it did.
Load it up with 2 or 3 solid cement blocks and cut pieces of 2x4 to jam blocks tight so they don't slide around. Do after good rain as soon as not muddy. Don't try steep or uneven areas--my lawn tractor would spin tires when I did. I have to get off tractor seat to raise or lower wheels when loaded with blocks. Do not cross hard surface without lowering wheels or you dull coring heads. Hose off including cleaning dirt out of coring heads before storing. It paid for itself in two uses compared to renting walk-behind unit which vibrates your hands carpel tunnel badly.
