Beats all the rest
I have had these hoses for over 20 years and they are the most durable and reliable hoses yet in either freezing weather or mid summer heat. Never had to return one yet. Getting ready to purchase another for additional hydrant, Other hoses get brittle, split if left in sun, freeze up in winter if the slightest water left, kink and in general make life miserable wrestling onto a reel. Save yourself a lot of money and misery, just get yourself one of these babies. We live in the country and use our hoses every day for livestock, garden, equipment cleaning, etc.

I have one of these hoses that drives me crazy. It constantly kinks - every time you take it off the hose rack, every time you move it around and every time you try to wind it back up. It fights you all the way when you try to wind it back up. If it's wet or your hands are wet when you handle it, you'll wind up looking like you cleaned ashes from a wood stove bare handed. The hose will last, however, to annpoy you a long time. Mine is 21 years old and still aggrevates me each and every summer.
The hose seems to be very sturdy. The fittings also seem very durable. I did have trouble at first with twisting and tangling (like a old telephone cord). The only real complaint is the fittings are a little short, so screwing them on and off can be a little awkward. Still I bought 2 and am happy.
I've only been using this hose for a few weeks now, so it's difficult to give a comprehensive review due to the lack of any durability information. So far, however, I do like the hose and will probably buy another to replace an aging hose that's on its last leg. (Do hoses have legs?)
I finally broke down and bought a "Craftsman" Hose after my wife was upset at all the hose issues with our Big Blue Box Store hose.
I am really pleased with the quality and even though the price was a bit over what I wanted to spend It was worth it.
Now if I can just get my wife to water the trees before it gets to 95 degrees.
Owned over 1 year. Did not kink at all at first. Does now. Think about it; it would have to be really really rigid to never kink. As the sun warms the rubber gets softer and it starts to kink. Compared to other hoses same price that claim to never kink (one from a large hardware store and one from sam) they kink far worse. Comparison is like night and day, so i forgive sears on this one. Will buy another.
Just (7/21/13) bought 2 more to add to the 2 I've had for over 10 years. I want to respond to other comments. Will it turn hands black? Slightly and only for a week or so, easily washed off with soap and water. Will it kink? Yes for the first few days as rubber has a bit of a "memory" and they are tightly coiled from manufacturer. Lay hose out in the sun for a few days to alleviate this tendency. Does it contain lead? No word of it on my package material (I bought in Iowa). Yes a bit heavy and takes more effort to drag around yard but will last nearly forever.
My hoses lay out in the sun from April til October and I drive over them at least twice a day. I have been known to forget to turn the water supply off. Never a problem. For the confidence and longevity, I would only purchase rubber hoses.
Seems like a great hose but, on the rear cover there's a " WARNING " ( This hose contains chemicals including lead, known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm !) Why do you sell this product ? Can I have my money back ? PUT THE WARNING ON FRONT !
I've bought these hoses for 35 years. The early version was green and did not rub off on your hands. The black version (currently available) does rub off on your hands. That's really the only negative. I've smashed the connectors and just taken them back to Sears and exchanged for a new hose. I have one of the original green hoses left from many years ago.
I give these away as wedding gifts. It's the one thing the couple will receive that they will actually use forever. If Sears would go back to the original color the hose would be perfect.
