GREAT
started right out of the box after returning the 79107 model. This one was much better. the old one was a horrible piece of junk and a descrace to the craftsman name. This model is very light weight and tears weeds up in it's path. I would definatley recommend this one. It seams better than the troy built it compares to. No problems at all!!!!!!!!

32cc weed trimmer
I have had nothing but trouble with this model. If you are considering purchasing one, buy the extended warranty because on mine the starter rope broke and it would cost more for me to have it repaired than what I had paid for it. I will be purchasing an electric model next time.

this trimmer is a pos.

I bought this pos about a 15 months ago, had some vibration, but not bad. The other day I started it which it is not the easiest thing to do, but once you hit the throttle it will not stay running. The only way you can keep it running is from the startup and hold the trigger full blast. Called sears and they said it would probably cost around $80 or more to fix. I will throw it in the trash and go buy a good Toro.

I went to sears and they traded weed wackers with me. I ended up with a 27cc, it is easier to start, lighter and plenty of power. It does not vibrate like the 32 did. I am totally satisfied with this one.

The Craftsman Gas trimmer is comfortable and easy to use.

I bought it at a great price and once I got it running it worked very nicely.  One issue was that you have to throttle up slowly ubtil it warms up or you flood the engine and it stops running.  Once it's warm and has been running, throttling up and down is no problem.

Restarting is easy as well.  As long as you read the instructions and make sure the bulb is filled with fuel, it will start with one pull.

I had to change out the orange cord after a short period of time.  It doesn't last long around rock borders.  I'll try the balck cord the next time.

With all thing being said, I am pleased with my purchase.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

2 cycle trimmer is terrible

Trash!!!   First one had continual overheating problems and would have to sit for 15-20 min before changing attachments.  Service was terrible and sent back third time forgetting to attach fuel line.  After three times in service, received a replacement one from store and it shut down and wouldn't start after two uses.

DO NOT BUY

THIS TRIMMER IS A PIECE OF ****!  THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SEQUENCE OF PRIMES TO START THAT WILL WORK, THEN ONCE YOU GET LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET IT STARTED IT RUNS FOR 5 OR 10 MINUTES AND OVERHEATS.  THERE IS A FOOL BORN EVERY MINUTE AND THAT IS THE LOGIC BEHIND THIS RIP-OFF!  SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY A BRAND THAT WORKS!  SO MUCH FOR CRAFTSMANSHIP.

This Craftsman Gas Trimmer is one Tough Machine!

My husband and I let our yard get out of control while we spent our time online and in stores searching and researching for the best deal for a gas trimmer. We were done w/ our electric one w/ the cord that always got stuck. This trimmer is easy start (once you get the hang of it) and the trimmer cord is so easy to place and replace that it's such a nice change from the 'old way' of winding cord around and sending a prayer it won't get stuck! Also, the little cords are durable and tough and last a good while. This machine got a workout it's first trip out of the box in our yard and it worked like a champ! definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something that fits all the criteria: budget, easy start, lightweight, easy to change cords, etc. Gots everything you could want in a trimmer! Craftsman won't let you down! Get this trimmer and you won't be sorry!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 32cc 2 cycle split gas trmmer-Powerful, heavy and loud

This is a powerful line trimmer but it can get heavy and loud.  The automatic choke works great, usually starts on the 3rd pull.  If I could get the 2 line (4 string) fixed head, that would greatly improve the cutting capabilities without having to use full throttle.  This engine vibrates a little more than other trimmers that I have used.  The weight becomes an issue using the hedge trimmer attachment but the extra power of the 32cc engine is well worth it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Had to return the first one

Bought this 32cc Weedwacker on clearance (last year's model).  Took it home, poured in gas, and fired right up.  I thought it strange that it doesn't have a choke.  The unit idled just fine, but was unresponsive to the trigger throttle.  It would only idle.

Called the 1-800 number and they told me to take it back.  I hesitantly exchanged it for the exact same model.  Second one works just fine.  Needs to idle for a while before you give it gas.  The instructions say to warm it up by giving gas, but it seems to want to just idle for 30 secs first.

The shaft seems a little short for me.  I'm 6' tall.  The unit is heavy, but balanced OK.  It has plenty of power.  This is my first "hastle free" trimmer head.  Seems to work fine.  I have a very large yard and was able to do all my trimming and edging on 1 string.  Wasn't missing the need for a tap head.

I like that you can click the shaft 90 degrees for driveway edging.  I plan on getting the pole saw adapter for trimming tree branches.

I gave this a lower rating due to the issue of the first one not working and it's heavy weight.

Cheers, Caveman

Love it!! I think it's one of my best purchases.

It was a really hard decision for me, trying to pick out a trimmer.  I spent about three hours researching and reading reviews from every retailer out there.  Every trimmer seemed to get about a 50-50 review, so how was I to pick?  I really wasn't comfortable going with the Craftsman, just based on personal experience in the past.  But I picked this one both for the price and the fact that it was interchangeable.  I got home and tried it out, and I have to say that I absolutely love the thing.  It has a lot of power and cuts through my lawn like a champ.  Don't be scared off by the reviews that say it wouldn't start, or would die out on them.  Anyone that has ever really used a gas trimmer, knows that they can be a little finicky when starting up.  Just make sure you let it run for a minute or two before you go to give it some gas.  I also purchased the edger attachment.  That's what has sold me.  It works great, and it's quick and easy to switch between them both.  Craftsman could have improved it by making it a little bit longer, so you don't have to hunch over, but otherwise brilliant idea.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

So far, so good.

I purchased this unit last evening (2/21/10) on sale for $115. Took it out this morning for its "maiden voyage" and all went well. Based on the reviews I've read, I did purchase the 3-year full warranty at a cost of $49. I figured this was better than having to buy another replacement in a year or so. My previous unit was a Poulan Pro and the attachments (edger and blower) both worked as normal. The only "hiccup" I noticed was that the unit does run somewhat rough in idle mode, as has been mentioned in this forum many times. I'll see what lies ahead with future use, but feel comfortable with the full warranty (the main reason I purchased this unit).

I would recommend this product to a friend.

PIECE OF JUNK

Horrible piece of machinery! I've exchanged this trimmer 3 times. It worked great the first few times I used it and then it just wouldn't start again. Asked salesman at the Roanoke, VA store if anyone else is returning this product for that same thing and he said "no". After reading these reviews, I know he told me a big lie. DO NOT BUY!!!! I purchased a blade saw and pole trimmer attachment with this. The first time I attached the blade saw and used it, it twisted and broke. Now I am stuck with all this equipment I can't use and as usual the 90 day hassle free return policy is over.

Very hard to start hot, dies after 1/3 - 1/2 tank gas/oil mix.

Purchased 1st one, only started 4 times in two weeks. Returned for same one, 2ed one would only run (first pull) if started with cold empty tank. After starting would die in about 15 min (1/3 to 1/2 tank of gas/oil mix). Would not start hot.

Cheap Product

I was fortunate to find one of these models on the showroom floor.  Inventory in Sears has been horrible in recent visit. So I take this home, buy new gas, mix with oil, load gas, pull cord and it runs. Boy was I happy.  The next day I take her out and pull the cord.  She starts right up.  I let her warm up as I search for my safety goggles and when I returned there was silence.  She stopped!??  Pulled the cord and started, but sputtering.  Pulled the throttle level, sputtered then accelerated fine.  I took my finger off throttle and it returns to idle and quickly fails.  This continues for several pulls on the throttle.  I tell myself I miss calculated fuel mixture.  I drain it and put in a new mixture of Gas/Oil.  The same routine continued with the throttle.

So at this point she goes back for a refund.  Which Trimmer do I settle for?  There's none in stock at this store.  I'll try ************!!

I have owned several Craftsman 32cc weedeaters and have been happy with them until now.

I have owned several Craftsman 32cc weedeaters and have been happy with them until now.  Three months ago I bought the 'prime and pull" 32cc weedeater when my other weedeater had to spend a few days at the doctors.  Since I have owned this weedeater I have had to send it back to Sears two times and I am packing it up for the third time.  Here are the problems I have had with it:  The kill switch only worked about 50% of the time, so they replaced it and it worked fine for about two weeks.  Now it's back to the same old same old.  Once the pull cord came out and wouldn't wind back in.  When I run it for a couple hours it shuts off and you have to let it cool down for usually about an hour before it thinks about running again.  Most recently the cable running between the engine and the head snapped.  Overall this macine is very unreliable and not worth the hassle.  The warranty is worth its wait in gold on this product.  Sears will fix it as many times as you can send it back in.

Craftsman 32cc 2 cycle Split Boom Gas Trimmer would not run

Started up right out of the box but would shut off as soon as I squeezed the throttle. The head would stop spinning then the the ngine would idle and shut off. Tried for three days and even purged the system and tried an leaner gas/oil mix with same results. Returned it for the 29cc 4-cyle trimmer which I REALLY like. I reviewed that trimmer as well.

Very Unreliable

Since day one, this trimmer hasn't run right. It would start reasonably easy, but after 5 mins of trimming, it would cut off. It would restart easily, but then would cut off again every minute or two, thus making a 30 min job out of a tiny front yard. I took it back to have repaired. Sears made adjustments to carburetor. Took it home and tried it out. It stayed on about 8 minutes before cutting off again every 2 minutes from restarting it. It's back in the shop again. Was told they might recall it if I have to bring it back in a 3rd time.

Not a Very Good Product

I bought this to replace my old Craftsman 31cc/2-Cycle trimmer. Well...for starters it won't start without me pulling it at lest 20 times. I hate the "Hassle-free" trimmer head. I have to change it out several times while trimming my average-size yard. I ABSOLUTELY HATE this trimmer head. Not only that, it rotates counter clockwise which is really hard to get used to. I'm not sure why they changed a good thing. I have gone back to using the old trimmer attachment from my old trimmer.

Decent Machine

I bought this machine because it was a craftsman/ warranty etc.... It started right out of the box. I bought the Hedger attachment which also works greats great. Cons- weed machine gaurd does not gaurd from anything my legs we all banged up after useing it. The hedger is a bit heavy but works good. Little loud need to wear Ear Protection as suggested.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I have always thought reviews were of limited value. I disregarded some of the negative reviews on this trimmer. MISTAKE. After 18 months of residential use, it wouldn't start. I took it for repair, and the final repair estimate was more than the trimmer cost. Never again!!

Decent trimmer

I got this as a free replacement to another broken similar Craftsman trimmer thanks to Sears' excellent warranty coverage. Compared with the previous one, this one is lighter and shorter. Looks like they made some improvements. I had trouble keeping it idling at the beginning. But it's due to a wrong fuel mixture (too much oil). The only thing I don't like is the direction of turning: counter-clockwise, good only for left-handed users. Not sure how durable it is. My last one had trouble restarting if you stopped it in the middle of job and finally the pull string failed to retract due to some broken parts inside. I like Craftsman since it's easy to get warranty service, just bring it to any Sears locations.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
