Great pump
I had brought this pump six years ago, been though three flood, pack full of sand and mud, clean it up and still working. This years it had gotten very cold upstate New York and the housing cracked which was my fault, Idid't do to good of a job winterizing the pump. But I am going to buy the same one, if they still sell them. GREAT PUMP ! Would recommend this pump to anyone.

Lasted only one year and 3 weeks.

I installed this pump last September to replace a 1/2HP Craftsman pump that lasted two years.  After 13 months of normal use under normal conditions it has sprung a bad leak around the main seal seperating both halves of the pump.

Despite the fact that the pump looks metal, it is plastic!  After one year of 60PSI pressure the plastic warps to the point that the pump is irreperable without changing the entire casing.  So despite the fact that the pump is sitll under "parts" warranty, I don't have the time to wait around for Sears to fix it, nor do I want to pay a steep labor charge to fix something that is just going to fail again in a year.

If you want a pump that will run for a long while, buy one that is made out of steel/iron and not a Craftsman plastic pump that lacks a bolt-through design to tighten the housing around the gasket instead of the cheap band that is included.

The motor is good but the housing sucks!

The motor pumps and works great, but the housing to the pump sucks. A year after I purchased the pump the front housing cracked. It was 89$ to purchase another housing, i had to wait 5 days for delivery. But it was easy to replace. Another year later the back side of the housing on the pump cracked, and same story, it was 45$ for the back housing part, but this time the motor has to be taken apart to replace the housing. To take to a repair shop would easily add another 75$ to a 100$ cost for replacement. I'm very dissapointed with this and to send the pump to the manufactor for warranty could take months, in which i wouldn't have a pump at all or would still have to by another one till it came back :-(!

Last one lasted over 30 years

We've been using a 1hp Sears Hydro-Glass pump for over 30 years (model 390-25130). Finally failed this week, probably a crack in impeller housing, but it has been getting awfully noisy. Will replace with this one. Only caveat is that the first one was made in US, and I assume this one will come from China. I can't imagine it will last 30 years.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman Professional 3/4 hp Hydro-Glass Shallow Well Jet Pump

Once again Craftsman has came through.  I replaced a 1/2 HP Craftsman water pump and Preasure tank Unknown brand with a Craftsman 3/4 HP waterpump and SIMS 35GAL tank.  This provides me with the primary means in getting water to my house.    I noticed the 1/4 HP difference between the pumps means a whole lot in how long the pump runs.   I have re adjusted the cut off - cut on to 30/50 over the manufacture preset due to my house was used to getting 20-40 and the new one came preset to 40-60.   Once the cut-on starts the pump runs approx 2 minutes and its back up to 50 PSI.    With the 1/2 HP pump, it ran for approx 8 minutes or so before reaching a 40 PSI.   Outstanding Shallow Water Pump.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Well pleased and then some

I have to agree with the others -- just replaced this identical model after 28 years of year round service in our 3 bedroom home. It just keeps on ticking and the setup and connections are most simple. A true best buy !

Commercial Duty

I have 4 of these units installed on a camp barge (house Boat) they are used continously in both fresh and salt water. They have been run dry for hours when potable water tanks run dry and still perform when switched to a full tank. They will last two years in sea water conditions and 4 years in fresh water under commercial duty.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good Deal

This pump has served 8 people for the last 6 years, and never missed a "pump". Housing will never rust 'cause it's a type of fiberglass. I would buy the same one tomorrow if I had to, but, old faithfull is still going strong. Scooter
