Connections :
How much versatility do you need in a TV? Many of today's models are capable of a wide range of connectivity options, so you'll be able to do more than watch sitcoms. Minimize the wiring behind your TV, watch your digital photos on your TV screen or hookup a PC, all by using the proper connections.
CableCARD Slot
A CableCARD slot allows you to access analog, digital and HDTV through the use of a CableCARD instead of an unsightly set-top box. Contact your local cable company for compliance and additional information.
Component Video
A component video input splits the brightness from the color signals, resulting in a more accurate picture with less bleeding for stunning picture quality. Component video inputs allow you to hook up a DVD player and maximize DVD output with ease.
Composite Video
A composite video input is normally a single RCA-type jack that transmits brightness and color information at the same time. A composite video connection provides you with a high-quality picture, but not as good as an S-video or component video connection because of the single path transmission.
DVI
A DVI input (a computer-style connection) provides a direct digital-to-digital video hookup with compatible devices. Since the signal remains digital as it passes through (unlike component video), it is able to remain clear. DVI-HDCP signals are encrypted to prevent recording of high-definition broadcast content.
HDMI
An HDMI input provides a single cable connection to carry an uncompressed, all-digital audio/video signal from any HDMI-enabled audio/video source, such as a DVD player or ATSC tuner. You receive the same results as you would with multiple cables, but with less wiring.
IEEE 1394
An IEEE 1394 (i.LINK or FireWire) interface allows high-speed (up to 400 Mbps) digital communication with other IEEE 1394 devices, such as digital camcorders, DVD recorders and digital set-top boxes. It can quickly transfer full-motion video from your digital camcorder to your TV for cinema-like action.
Media Card Slots
If digital photography is one of your pastimes, you may benefit from a television with a media card slot. All you need to do is insert your media card in the compatible slot and you'll be able to view your digital still images directly on your TV screen for all to enjoy.
PC Input
Double the use of your TV with a PC input. Hook up your laptop or PC to your LCD or plasma TV and use it as monitor. A PC input allows you to enjoy a big-screen view for computing tasks.
S-video
An S-video input transmits the brightness and color information separately, reducing signal interference for a sharp, high resolution picture. Since signal transmission is done on different paths, S-video inputs generally outperform composite video connections.
