      • Freezer space averages about 37% of the total capacity
      • Most have thru-door ice and water dispensers
      • Available in built-in and counter-depth models
      • Costs more than top freezer and single-door bottom

      free-standing

Freestanding refrigerators can be rolled into and out of their space. Most refrigerators are freestanding. They are available in standard- and counter-depth.

      next page standard depth

      standard depth

These refrigerators are more than 28 inches deep and don't always sit flush with the depth of your counters.

      next page counter depth

      counter depth

The depth of this fridge is 28 inches or less sitting flush with your kitchen counters, giving you that built-in look without the price. They have less depth capacity than standard-depth fridges but make up for that by often being wider.

      built-in appearance

When you want a truly integrated style, built-in is the way to go. They often have customizable front panels to match your kitchen's decor and are usually counter-depth. They're available in all door styles except top freezer.

      how should I measure?

Measure how much space you have for a fridge (which isn't necessarily the same as the size of your current fridge). Width is the most important measurement, but height and depth are important if you have other space restrictions like cabinets over your fridge or you want a fridge that's counter depth. You'll want your measurements to leave a little space next to and above the refrigerator for air circulation.

Also, be sure to make sure the maximum width or depth of your fridge can fit through the narrowest doorways or halls leading to your kitchen.

    • based on how you shop for food, what size fridge would be best for you?

      next

      why is this important?

Depending on how much food you often have on hand, you'll want to make sure you have the capacity to store everything. For example, if you stock up on frozen food, you'll want more freezer room than if you make more frequent trips to the store and rarely freeze food. Also having smaller amounts of food on hand at a single time can mean it's smarter (and cheaper) to get a smaller fridge.

    • What other features would you like in your fridge?

      next

      what should I look for?

Choose a refrigerator that fits your lifestyle. If you have lots of fresh fruit or vegetables on hand, a crisper drawer could be right a solid choice. Often get larger containers of liquid? You might want to consider gallon door storage. If you find yourself opening the refrigerator a dozen times a day to get ice for your drinks, a thru-door water and ice dispenser is right for you. Think of how you use your fridge, and select the features that matter most to you.

    Find Quality Refrigerators at Sears

A good refrigerator should be reliable and long lasting. Poor products will have problems that can include freezing items that you want to keep cool and allowing frozen items to thaw. Sears offers quality refrigerators with some products having the added advantage of excellent energy efficiency. We have a wide range of items that include commercial refrigerators and portable countertop systems.

If you are environmentally conscious, then you will want to search for our Energy Star products. The federal government provides Energy Star certification for appliances that meet strict energy efficiency standards. Such products reduce the amount of greenhouse gases released into the environment because they use less power. You can find this certification normally in the left-hand column of each product page under "Specifications & Dimensions."

The Whirlpool 19.6 cu. ft. French-Door Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator is Energy Star compliant and meets the CEE Tier 2 standard. The attractive French door refrigerator uses 12 percent less energy than conventional products. The defrost cycle only runs when needed, depending on internal conditions, rather than at set times. The energy efficiency features of this product allow it to use less electricity than a 50-watt light bulb. Other features include adjustable legs, humidity control and internal water dispenser. The refrigerator comes with a one-year general warranty.

An example of one of our commercial refrigerators is the Master-Bilt Low Profile Merchandiser. Designed for business display, this product has three adjustable shelves with temperatures ranging from 34-41 degrees F. You can set temperatures and defrost operation using the digital thermometer and defrost timer. The 24-gauge galvanized steel exterior and interior provide sturdiness and long service life. Master-Bilt offers a limited four-year extended compressor warranty and a one-year limited parts and labor warranty with the Low Profile Merchandiser.

In addition to carrying conventional refrigerators, Sears also offers specialized items like wine coolers and beverage centers. Some of our wine coolers use thermoelectric systems without environment-damaging CFCs or HCFCs. These systems run quieter and without the vibration found in refrigerant-based products. The Danby Silhouette 51 Bottle Freestanding Dual Zone Wine Cooler is a mid-sized chiller that can hold up to 51 bottles. The cooler has two compartments with independent temperature zones for red and white wine storage. The cooling system does not generate frost, and there is an interior light for displaying your wines.

Sears has refrigerators for every household and for most commercial needs. Additionally, we have an excellent selection of appliance bundles for your kitchen. To find the product you need, narrow down results using the options in the left-hand column. For example, you can select products by brand or by discounted price. If you have appliance questions, call us toll-free at 1-888-295-5965. Alternatively, you can click on "Chat live" on any product page to chat online with a Sears expert. We have items for every budget and our discounts can range from 20 percent to more than 70 percent off the original price. Shop Sears now to find a quality refrigerator, wine cooler or beverage center.
