Drive safe with tires from Sears

Tires are all about balance. When choosing the right tires, drivers need to balance various priorities. Those priorities include the different weather conditions, driving styles and road surfaces the vehicle is likely to face. Sears can help. We have hundreds of options from the world's best tire manufacturers.

The tire-choosing process begins with our online search engine. When you enter the specific vehicle model and year into our search box, we'll generate a list of the right sized tires for that vehicle. The next step is to determine the likely driving conditions. For example, what kind of weather will the tires need to handle? The challenges of driving in Florida will be different from those in Michigan. Winter driving in the Snow Belt requires tires with beefed-up traction.

Our large winter inventory, from manufacturers like Dunlop, Firestone and Goodyear, includes tires rated for tough snow conditions. Some have biting edges to maximize road contact in icy weather. Others are optimal trekkers through slush and heavy rain, thanks to sipes engineered to channel away the wet stuff and minimize the risk of hydroplaning when you hit the brakes. We also have all-season tires, designed for areas with light snow conditions. These tires also work well on dry roads in warm weather.

Another factor to consider is driving style. Is the car sporty? Does your typical drive involve lots of twists and turns? We offer performance tires designed to enhance handling, especially at higher speeds, and keep your wheels on the road.

For most drivers, the main priorities are fuel economy and the comfort of the ride. Our Road Handler touring tires meet both of those demands and are a good choice for vehicles that spend most of their time on well-maintained roads for the daily commute or long-distance highway trips. Touring tires do not need an aggressive tread, which makes for greater friction and thus a slight decrease in gas mileage. A touring tread still provides good contact with the road, but the ride will be smooth and relatively free of noise. Touring tires typically have longer tread-life warranties than other types of tires.

Inevitably, there's some overlap among different tires and driving priorities. Some of our light truck and SUV tires fall under the touring category, for example, but we also offer the more rugged tread of all-terrain tires for drivers with adventurous plans for their pickups and SUVs, particularly those with four-wheel drive and off-road packages. In addition, we carry tires engineered specifically for recreational vehicles. Our RV tires from Michelin are available in a wide range of sizes.
