Hardware & Fasteners
Attaching one thing to another is simple in principle but can be quite difficult without the right kinds of fasteners. Screws and nails are the most common items used for this purpose. There are, however, many other types of fasteners that can be used in special situations.
Specialty fasteners take many forms depending on their intended job. U-bolts hold pipes onto other surfaces, pipe gate hinges allow fence gates to be closed securely and eye bolts provide secure tie-down points for things like tarps. There are even specialty fasteners that allow you to attach stairs to runners. If you're looking for a fastener for an uncommon job, you're sure to find it here at Sears.
Sometimes, the simplest solution is the best one. A package of the right nails is essential for many projects. Whether you need roofing nails for your new shingles or finishing nails to attach indoor molding, you'll have no trouble finding them. Nails are generally made in two formats. There are strips of nails for use with nail guns and boxes of loose nails for manual hammering. Make sure to get the correct type for the nailing tool you intend to use.
Not every fastening application is meant to be permanent. Hooks allow objects to be temporarily hung from walls. Hooks also make great tie-down points for ropes and tarps. Specialized hooks work well for hanging items like ladders, sports racquets and towels. Such hooks are made to work with particular items and shaped to provide the needed capabilities and appearances. The hooks themselves can be temporary or permanent. Permanent hooks usually are screwed into the wall or other surface, while temporary ones usually clip onto a specialized backing.
