A very fine camera
I bought this unit to replace a Casio point/shoot that I had for several years. I wanted a smaller body and faster start-up and larger screen, and at the same time, retain all the great functions of the old Casio. I shopped for a long time. This Canon is everything I wanted and more. I would highly recommend it. The picture quality is wonderful. (I only shoot large images.) But, as a somewhat pro-photographer, I thought I would really like the ultra-wide angle lens (24mm). But I don't. I find that I like to start composing a shot with a more reasonable 28mm. 99% of the users of this camera will never know. (You say: why not start with 24 and zoom into 28? Well, that diverts my concentration away from composing, and adds a little extra time to the task.) Now, for indoor shots, 24mm is not a bad starting point, but it's just a personal thing with me that I like 28mm. On some pics you will experience some optical distortion at 24mm. And the only other "con" would be the placement of the flash. It's very easy to cover the flash with your finger, something that has to be learned, but I normally use available light anyway. I don't shoot much video but the one-button for it is very nice. Would I buy it again? you bet - but with a 28mm lens, I think the model 200 has it.
