Weider  PowerSwitch 100 lb. Weight Set

This is a great set of weights. It's so nice to be able to adjust the weight without having to deal with separate plates and collars. Just slide the adjusters and it's done. Was a little nervous about the reviews that say they are hard to line up when setting in the trays, and worries about the plates falling off on your head or toes. Believe me, these are not an issue. Yes, you have to wiggle the bar around a little to get it seated in the tray. Yes, the plates do move a little on the bar and make a little noise like someone is lifting weights. Well you know what? You are lifting weights. Lifting weights is not easy, and it's not always quiet. The little bit of time and patience it takes to line up the plates is nothing compared to changing weights on a standard bar. The plates are secure on the bar, and I don't see how they could fall off. I would recommend this set to anyone who wants an easily adjustable set of weights.

Easy to Asemble. Very Nice Quality!

The product description clearly says that these are "100 pounds a piece," they are only 50 pounds a piece. I probably would not have ordered them had I known they were only 50 pounds. Overall quality of the product is good. However, the product description needs to truly describe the product.

I bought this product about two years ago. I generally like to wait a while to review a product. I want my review to be factual and tested. This dumbbell set is a space saver and all you have to do is dial up the amount of weight you need, that's it! Have had no problems within the last two years that I've had it and I workout about 5 days a week.

Bought these for P90X even though some of the reviews were bad. I figured it was a better bet to get them from Sears instead of an online retailer, so I could return them if there was something wrong. THE GOOD: Can select from 10 to 50 pounds,comes with stand, space saver, cheaper than buying individual dumbbells for 10-50 pounds at 5 pound increments, Sears is local and return was easy. THE BAD: Noisy - weights clang around during use waking up my family when I work out at 5 AM. Unweildy - can't keep the dumbbells tight to your body or between a bench/chair and your legs when doing certain exercises. Suspect - small plastic end cap piece popped out on second use and other reviews make me think a weight is going to crush my skull when this thing falls apart. Weight selector gets stuck and dumbbells get stuck in base. P90X - The shape and size of this makes it near impossible to do some of the P90X exercises without compromising form. It takes too long to select a different weight and the dumbbell gets stuck, so it breaks the rhythm of the workout. I bought individual dumbbells instead and would recommend anyone doing P90X do the same. These might be decent for standard weight lifting though.

So far i have owned my Weider PowerSwitch 100 lb. Weight Set for about a month so far and i would have to say these are the best weights i have ever used or owned. To be honest in the beginning i was kind of skeptical on buying these and was going to get the bowflex selecttech but i am glad that i got these instead. I have had no problems switching how much weight i want on the dumbbell. This weight set can be put anywhere, it saves so much space so you dont have to worry about that. The only difference i noticed from the one i bought and the picture of it above is that the weights isnt on a slant, they are just laying flat on the base. Weider must of had a problem with the weights being on the base on a slant. but other than that i gaureenteed you wont regret the purchase!!! Also it only takes 10 minutes setting up the stand.

I am really enjoying this weight set. I have only had it for about a week but it has proven to be everything I expected. I do have a few problems with the set that are part of the design but can be avoided with careful use. #1 problem is that sometimes it is difficult to remove the weights from the stand especially when using the full amount of weight. I can usually remove one of the dumbbells easily when set to 50 lbs. but have to struggle to get the other one out. If I pull them out "just right" there is no problem but it would be nice if the stand were more "forgiving". #2 problem is that when I use less than the maximum weight sometimes the unused plates come out with the dumbbells and fall to the floor. Again this can be avoided by more careful use so I can't necessarily blame the design but it is a safety issue. I have purchased interlocking rubber tiles to protect my hardwood floor from damage in the event that the plates fall. #3 is not necessarily a problem but the picture on the website does not reflect the actual product. The stand shown has the dumbbells stored at an angle. The stand that came with the set I purchased stores them perpendicular to the floor. Not sure why they changed the design or if an angle is better than storing them flat but thought it should be mentioned because I was surprised to find the picture and the product not matching.

At some point- the plastic end caps or screws that attach plastics together fatigue out.

I am as impressed with this product as one can be. I just purchased this product the other day to go along with my P90X program. It requires quick weight change and you cant get any quicker than "The Weider PowerSwitch" set. It was easy to assemble, the base is extremely sturdy, the tabs that change the settings are smooth and slide with ease. It takes up very little space (I live in a small country house ) and the price was resonable. Thank you very much for putting out a great product.
