    Nice, but... September 07, 2010

My wife purchased this machine and found that it works smoothly but the pulse sensor doesn't work properly.  The indicated pulse rate will show 130, the then drop to 65, then jump to 110, etc.  Since it is still under warranty we had a Sears technician check it out but, without testing it himself, told us that it is working as intended by showing a "range."   I have never seen a pulse sensor this erratic and assume that it is a common problem with this model which is why the tech didn't offer a fix.  If your machine has a similar defect my advise is to use a separate sensor.

Almost no resistance April 13, 2011

I read the reviews before purchasing the bike, noting that one reviewer claimed this bike did not have enough resistance. I chose to ignore this, thinking that the reviewer was probably much more into exercise than myself--I have barely exercised in the past 10 years or so. After assembling the bike, I quickly tried it at its most difficult setting, and that's when I realized that the other reviewer actually understated the lack of resistance. This bike, at its hardest setting, has almost no resistance, making it seem rather useless for exercising. Like the other reviewer, I also returned the bike.

Be VERY careful on this bike! October 21, 2011
    By BrokenBolts of Rockledge, FL
    Pros:
    Easily adjustable,Smooth peddling,Comfortable seat,Quite,Good exerciser
    Cons:
It can collapse w/you on it!

We have owned this bike for just over 18 months and use it over an hour a day 5-6 days per week.  Had a squeak that I could not stand or explain so I took the bike apart.  Turns out 1 (of 3) bolts that attach the frame to the rear pedestal had broken!  I'm about 170 lbs. and my wife is less so I don't think we overstressed the bike. Subsequent use the other 2 bolts snap on the whole thing collapses!  Fortunately I heard the snap and managed to get off before it crashed down.  My guess is that it is a design flaw but bottom-line -- if you own this bike be very careful!

This is a great ride! July 12, 2011
By exerciselover of Stephens City, VA
    Pros:
    Easily adjustable,Smooth peddling,Comfortable seat,Looks really nice,Good exerciser,Health-friendly
    Cons:
    Pulse sensor inaccurate

I love this bike. I hurt my foot in March and found I have a flatfoot. Up until that time I was alternating riding my upright Schwinn exercise bike and walking five miles a day.

Through months of strenghtening my foot and finally breaking down and buying a custom-made orthotic I decided to try a recumbent bike again to strenghten my foot and knees. I had one years ago (can't remember the brand) but loved it then. My upright bike bothers my foot right now.

I have to say this is a good quality bike. It does not shake and is solid and quiet. I have used it for about 2 weeks now and found it to give me a good cardio workout. It is a lot less expensive than a Schwinn and does what it says it will do. You have to realize that these machines aren't going to give an accurate pulse rate, etc, even my Schwinn doesn't do that. I have also found that it has good resistance. I am using resistence 1 and it is tight.

I think this is an excellent product and is very affordable. I also love how the seat is adjusted like a car seat. I highly recommend this to anyone.

I like the workouts on the ProForm XP Recumbent Exercise Bike July 11, 2011
    By Sue634 of Richmond, KY
    Pros:
    Easily adjustable,Smooth peddling,Good exerciser,Power adapter is compatible

I started out with the first three workouts since I'm certainly not what you call "in shape". At first, I could only burn 140 calories, according to the bike. However, I've been working my way up the other workouts and yesterday I did #8 -- there is indeed resistance on the bike. I managed to burn 171 calories -- a big difference. I think that if you want to set the resistance manually, you have to move the wheel slowly until it "clicks" in. Simply turning it doesn't seem to work, at least that has been my experience.
