Love it! - HIGHLY recommend, especially for those with joint pain!
After much research, I chose because of the high reviews and the Schwinn name. The two main compliants I found, in the many reviews, were of 1)difficulty assembly & 2)the magnet coming off inside the flywheel. 1) I found the assembly to be quite easy, but you did have to follow the diagrams closely to be sure that you had the correct parts - especially the stabilizers.2)I had the same issue with the magnet coming off. It most likely snapped during the assembly as the magnet is attached inside the flywheel by a thin plastic piece and a wire attached to the magnet goes up to a harness that attaches to the console. I was able to reattach with duct tape and it works just fine. I would recommend this part be changed to a metal piece that can not be pulled loose. This bike is VERY quiet (the fan is louder than the pedaling!) I enjoy my workouts for a much longer time, as there is little to no arthritis pain - especially my tailbone since my stationary bike had become too painful.

Defective
Assembly directions were easy to follow. However, the display showed a "PLEASE PEDAL" error code. I followed the trouble shooting directions and opened the shroud. I saw that the speed sensor was not attached to anything, and it appears that the speed sensor magnet may be missing. At this point, it seems I've purchased a piece of useless junk. I called Sears Service, but I've received no assistance yet.

Good bike, but need another manual

I won't repeat other reviews, but agree with most that this is an excellent recumbent bike, solidly made. My only complaint is that if you buy this from Sears, you get an abridged owner's manual that has little more than (very clear) assembly instructions. What you are missing is a full description of the computer's functions, and how to change them, as well as more diagrams. To get this, go to Schwinn's website and download the full manual. It will answer your questions.

DO NOT BUY IF YOUR ARE NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED!!!

We purchased this bike under the impression (from Sears) that it was partially assembled. Absolutely not. Nothing about this bike is assembled. We opened the box to find it in numerous pieces. It is going back to Sears and they have permanently lost a customer. I have had with their misleading advertisements and defective products.

Cycle's good, Electronics Fair and Fan and MP3 Terrible

Bought this bike at $399 online. Assembly was fairly straight forward. The fan and MP3 are almost worthless. There is no volume control for the MP3. You can barely hear your device over the sound of other equipment in the room. Our Nordic Track elliptical, @ half the price, has a top-notch MP3 connect. Schwinn could have done better. The bike is comfortable, though the seat adjust is clunky. My wife and I have an elliptical, a treadmill and this recumbent bike. We do 10 mins on each and switch up. The electronic dashboard comes with almost no directions, and is too complicated. There are few options to personalize the displays, which flip back and forth between useful info to innocuous info. Almost nothing about the controls are intuitive, as devices without detailed instructions should be. Again, Nordic Track seems to have this down, but Schwinn is lacking. The elliptical burns twice the cals and has better features, if you're torn between one or the other, go NT Elliptical.

Problems with bike

We purchased this bike based on recommendations on this site as well as trying it out at the store. We were very disappointed that it didn't work when put together...after getting a technician out to fix it (under warranty), it turned out that the small plastic piece which holds the speed sensor switch in place inside the cowling was broken (technician thought screw holding it on probably had been over-tightened at factory). Now the bike works fine, but we find it noisy due to seat moving and squeaking. Tightening the seat adjustment handle helps, but then it's hard to loosen it again to re-adjust seat. Other than noisy seat, the bike works fine and we are now enjoying it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Schwinn 250 rec

I don't usually write reviews. I have no complaints at all. It's as solid as most gym bikes I've been on. It doesn't make noise, nearly silent. You just can't hear it. Smooth riding. Comfort is fine for me.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Defective out of the box

The wheels turn--backwards only. Schwinn was a great product, very well built and solid, when they produced them. I owned two. Now Nautilus builds them for Schwinn. The bikes are no longer built to the same high standard. If you get one and it works, there's a one year warranty, but labor is only three months.
