Health consciousI just bought this treadmill last week to start training for an upcoming marathon. The wireless heart rate strap is amazing. It's pretty accurate, as I regularly test my heart rate on a garmin when running outside. The heart rate handle bars, however, are completely useless. Not one measurement was even 50% accurate, even when walking. The wireless strap is a must for a heart rate measurement! The ipod jack is great, along with the speakers, which will play your music loud enough for you to hear, even while running. Great plus! My biggest (and most important) complaint is the speed at which the treadmill starts and slows down. It takes a full 30 seconds to get to 4.0mph, another 20 seconds to go from 4.0 to 7.0, and a full MINUTE to slow back down to 4.0. For example, if I'm running 7-8mph and want to slow down, I'll immediately drop the speed to 4.0, but the treadmill will keep going full speed and take nearly a full minute to get to 4.0mph. I've never been on a treadmill that does that. Overall, though, I'm pretty happy and will just have to learn to slow the speed down a minute before I want to quit running.
practicalI researched treadmills for home use for over 6 months. The Sole brand kept recurring in my research as being of high quality. I finally ordered it and am very glad I did. The treadmill rivals those I've used in gyms. It is easy to program. The motor is quiet. Other family members reported they could only hear my footsteps when it's running. I had Sears assemble it in my home. The Sears staff said it was very easy to put together and they were impressed with the construction quality. They said it was the nicest one they have seen.
The only reason I bought this treadmill from Sears is because the online chat representative told me that the delivery people would bring it into my house, set it up, and even try it out to make sure it works. Come to find out when the delivery people (hired by Sears) called to set up a time, they didn't know anything about that, and even said "If my guys put it together you'll be running backwards".... great. So Sears calls me and rudely asks what makes me think they'd put it together. My response: Because I specifically asked and was told YES. For another $200 I could have someone come and put it together for me... but I'd have to wait longer (I'd already been waiting for about 3 weeks). Forget it. The delivery people were nice enough to bring it through my front door, but it was so heavy I had to unpack it the best I could on the living floor and wait until someone could help me take it to where it was going to be put. We put it together and it wasn't too bad-- except 2 plastic pieces that cover the wires on the arm were broken into pieces, we were a few screws short, and some places where screws go are in such awkward positions that it was very difficult to get them in. An email to Sole resulted in a quick response and the replacement pieces came quickly.
The treadmill itself runs great, is very quiet, and I love it. I am disappointed with Sears when I could have gotten it somewhere else for the same price and without being treated rudely. I'll be recommending this treadmill to others, but I won't be back to Sears and don't recommend anyone else goes there either.
