Great elliptical at a good price March 09, 2010
I recently bought this elliptical for me and my wife and I have not been disappointed in it. It took a while to get it put together, the instructions were clear but it just too some time to get through it all. But once it was built it is well worth the effort and cost. It is near silent when you are on it and things work as they should.
I've only owned it for a few months so I can't comment on its long term durability, but it seems like it should last a long time.
Well worth checking out if you are in the market for an elliptical

If you are a big boy like me (275lbs) who likes a great intense workout on a regular basis, I strongly recommend that you do not buy the 990. I have owned mine over a year and it I've replaced the rollers 3 times, rear motor twice, replaced the console twice, arms once and now the right side is making a lot of noise so customer service is sending out washers. Customer service will send out the parts in a timely manner which is good but I need a service tech to come out it and check the rear motor again and I've been waiting over a month.
This is not my first Nordic Track, I purchased a treadmill E3200 several years ago and that's been holding up great, so I was shocked that this was so poorly made. Two thumbs down

I am very pleased with my purchase of the NordicTrack Audiostrider 990 Elliptical. I like that it has a back fly wheel, as I prefer that motion to the front fly wheel ellipticals. It is a similar motion to the Precor ellipticals at gyms, just not as sturdy or as good of quality as the commercial machines. It is a little wobbly and makes some squeeky noises, but I'm willing to accept that for the price and for how good of a workout it provides at home. It has several programs of varying intensity, and I get a good leg and cardio workout with them. I would definitely recommend this product.
I assembled it on my own, with occasional help from my husband when I needed a second set of hands. It was no problem to build on my own (then again, maybe that is why it is squeeky!)

If you have trouble with the last step - here's a fix October 24, 2009

The last step in the installation asks you to put in a bar that attaches the feet peddles to the arms. It is a very tight fit. It works better if you detach the peddles from the back wheel (like it does for moving and storage). The attachment arms go on much easier after you do that.
Other than that, it is really quiet, and I love it. I gave up my gym membership to save money, and this is a decent substitute. I wish the iFit card was a full workout and not just a demo. I am going to buy a full workout card tomorrow.
