Quiet, smooth, and portable February 15, 2010
I've been very pleased with this elliptical. It's very quiet and smooth. The main drawback is that you need to buy the exercise programs separately to get flexibility in the programs. Also, the wavy washers for the upper arms failed for me and I had to replace them with 5/8" washers from Orchard Supply Hardware. Otherwise this has been a very good performing machine. It has the quiet operation and smoothness of much more expensive machines. Also, the ability to move it around is great for me.

afraid it might breakdown December 15, 2009
We bought this a couple weeks ago. We put it together ourselves. It is very wobley. The Upper body arm bars shift back and forth, and it's loud. I can get a workout but I'm afraid to go very fast on it. I thought it might be our assembly, but we put it together right and tight. I want to return it because I'm afraid of having problems in the future.

Constant problems with the NordicTrack E5 si November 30, 2011

I bought my NordicTrack E5 si elliptical about two years ago. I paid extra to have someone from Sears assemble it for me. I also paid extra for an extended warranty. About two months after I bought it I had problems with a constant knocking sound. It was still under factory warranty and they sent someone out to fix it. It happened again a few months later. It kept happening every few months or so. The factory warranty ran out and I went to my extended warranty. I even stopped using it for a while because I was disgusted and couldn't stand the noise anymore. One tech that came out to work on it said it was just a poor design. I thought when I bought a NordicTrack I was getting a good quality piece of equipment. I have complained to the company and they offer to send someone out to fix it. However, that does not compensate me for all the time I've missed from work waiting for the tech to come, (one didn't show up at all). I would advise against purchasing this piece of equipment. I previously had a ProForm that cost less and out performed this model of NordiTrack.

Pros:
attractive style,ease of use,great!Ordered this elliptical to be shipped to my local Sears store, it said when I ordered it would take 7-9 days, I ordered it on a Friday and recieved notice that it was ready to be picked up that very next Wednesday!
My husband picked it up from Sears and put it together in our garage in just a couple of hours. No problems with assembly or any missing parts. I was able to use it that very next morning for my workout. I am in love with this elliptical. I consider myself to be in very good physical shape, prior service military, I run and workout 4-6 times a week and figured with the winter months coming up, I could use this machine to help get through the winter. I never expected that I would get a hard core workout from this machine and the first day I used the Performance mode and 30 minutes later I am out of breathe and dripping sweat!
I would absolutely recommend NordicTrack to me friends/family and already have!
Oh, the only Con I can think of is that I purchased it at $599.00 and the very next day it went on sale for 10% off for Columbus Day! Darn it!
