We purchased this last week at $599 from Sears. We did purchase the 5 year warranty from Sears also because we are the kind of people that will warranty a toaster for that little bit of extra security. It took my husband and I roughly 2 hours to assemble it. It has some heavy parts so you will need someone strong for sure. Make sure and read the other reviews. We found some very helpful. One of them mentioned when to use which oil. I believe it was use white oil on all parts except use the black oil on step 7. Not sure why the manual wasn't more specific about when to use which oil. Overall assembly was pretty easy. I have never owned an elliptical or any other fitness equipment for that matter and we have only owned it a few days but so far I am very pleased. My husband and I both feel that it feels very smooth and we are excited to get started using it on a regular basis.

The elliptical works great once you get it put together.
The machine had several broken parts when I opened the box. I should have noticed that the box had obviously been dropped before I let them load it into my car. Of course, you have to work directly with NordicTrack to get replacement parts for your NEW elliptical machine instead of calling Sears. Three weeks, two parts shipments, and lots of wasted time later we had this unit up and running.

Very disappointed with the craftsmenship of this machine. I purchased it in December 2010 and had one of the crank arms break in May 2011. I contacted Nordictrack for a free replacement part since the machine was still within the 1 yr warranty period. It took 5 weeks to get the part due to part being out of stock. The part arrive in August, and I install it. Here it is 5 months later and 4 days after the 1yr warranty expired, the same part is now broken again. I have no intentions of contacting Nordictrack now, because I know they are not going to send me another part for free. I purchased this machine for my wife and she really enjoys the workout she gets from it. It's just unfortunate that the functionality of this machine is very poor. Oh well I guess I better get online and find a crank arm so thy I can repair this machine again. Brian S- Michigan
I purchased this elliptical after looking at in and test driving it at sears... The price seemed good and the nordic track name has always had appeal. I, however, since the purchase of this machine in May have not had any luck with it. It worked well for about two months, I am not a mechanical know nothing and can build things and assemble the machines (even with the poorest of directions which this machine came with). I assembled it after 2 hours of work. It is heavy to move and I thought (wow - good quality). after the two months, it began to squeak not just the usual wear and tear squeaking but this metal on metal grating sound. Became unbearable to ride if you have to listen to that sound (nails on chalkboard equivalent). I located the exact placement of the sound - Contacted customer service - received the run around - several other numbers later. I finally got through to the right people - two weeks later a service gentleman showed up to tell my wife I had assembled it incorrectly. Odd I followed the directions and the exact placement of parts.. When I looked it was exactly how it had been assembled to begin with. He did order parts, but the parts that arrived off the exact model and serial number were not the correct parts for the machine - what did we have to do with them - send them to the recycling center or the dump. He attempted a repair it worked for about 1 week and the squeaks began with greater intensity. I have tried calling the service department several times since, and get the run around and ""you are under the one year warantee." Well, No S&(u\#$ - I bought the silly thing in MAYof 2011. this was in October and November 2011. ?Now it nearly January 12 and still no resolution. I have discovered that Nordic Track does nothing directly. All their work is done through ICON. So I actually had to go to Sears to get the correct numbers and the details for the extended warantee I paid for on this stupid machine and finally received a better number and a little better customer service still through ICON, however. When the parts package arrived with all the parts listed on the packing slip(the pedal, the pedal arms and the handles, and roller assembly) however a single small box containing the roller assembly was all that was there. Oddly all the other parts are not anywhere to be seen (the pedal, the pedal arms and the handles were listed but not in a box that arrived or even anywhere near.. Now the folder in the online area says anytime customer service 24 just call. I do call and what do i receive "closed for the new years holiday" or "Closed for service call again during regular hours" which are Monday through Friday - interesting when they advertise anytime customer service.. I am frustrated and will recommend not buying this piece of crap from sears or anywhere else for that matter. Sears sells a warantee but will not back it up when there are problems. Nordic Track customer service is flawed and not neccesarily the sharpest tools in the shed especially if they send and mark, but "take things from the wrong bin" to send to the customers. No wonder their equipment is so expensive-- they waste money sending out wrong parts that end up in the landfill or recycle center... Get with it NORDIC TRACK!
Don't buy it. It is junk. After a limited time of use the left front axle screw feel off because the front left hub was working itself off the axle. I have tried numerous times to fix this piece of junk but it keeps coming off. I am a maintenance man by trade for 30 years and I know how to fix things. This piece of garbage needs to go right into the trash. Loctite, drilling and tapping the axle for a larger screw, realignment, nothing works to keep the hub on the axle. Apparently something with the frame manufacturing is off alignment with the axle and it can't be fixed without some major re-manufacturing. Save your money. Don't buy Nordic Track.

You might as well purchase the cheapest one you can find. It will probably be about the same. Save your money. This machine is very noisey. Internal components are cheaply manufactured. Guaranteed not to last. Get a gym membership instead or pay more for a machine that is of higher quality, because the santitation department WILL be picking it up. After using this machine for approximately 2.5 months it began making an unusual popping noise. Approximately 1 week later while attempting to workout, there was a loud bang. The flywheel is actually a potmetal "T" wtih plastic screwwed to it. You can prsactically snap the metal with your hands. Thisis the biggest waste of money I can remember in some time. If you believe one review let it be this one. You will be very dissapointed. Bu the way I weigh approximately 215lbs and the machine was used 3-4 times a week.
Also, the electronic control panel is crap!!! You will spend half of your time pushing the buttons, but there will be no response the majority of the time.
