    5 stars March 21, 2009

I have had my treadmill now for about a month and I love it! When it was delivered it only took the delivery men about 1/2 hour to assemble the entire unit! It would have taken me at least 2! I decided to place it in my family room where I could watch the big screen while using it. My husband thought it would be to noisy but it isn't! I use it 3-4 days a week while watching my favorite shows. With other treadmills I have had they were loud, so much so my dog would leave the room, not with this unit. She lays on the floor right by it sound a sleep!

Your first workout will be putting it together! March 05, 2009

This unit requires so much assembly it will be your first workout. My parents bought a different brand and all I had to do was add some wheels. The unit had oil all over the motor housing and part of the deck. I had to clean it before putting it together. The pulse monitor barely works. The rear of the unit creaks and cracks so bad when inclining it sounds like it's breaking and I even bought a workout mat to go under the unit. The tension adjustment knob on one of the ski bars works loose after about 5 mins of arm movement. The 12 preset workouts are not at all like the displayed patterns on the console. Also the lowest level workouts are very strenuous, not for anyone out of shape. The running deck is comfortable. The bolts that hold the console to the top of the upright posts keep coming loose, I have tightened them 3 times. The display is easy to read and in manual mode it simulates a 1/4 mile track with little boxes being filled around the sides to show your position. But the display never shows the incline setting until you change it. This is a small problem if you created your own workout on paper and wanted to follow it, you need to remember where your incline setting was last before you press up or down to go to your next level.

    Beware....No Parts Available after 10 Years... August 07, 2009
    By LisaEAnderson of Holley, NY
    Cons:
    No Parts Available

I Just wanted to let anyone considering buying a Proform Treadmill and possibly anything else they may manufacture, that they stop making parts for these treadmills after ten years. I found out the hard way.

I started having a problem with my ProForm 725 series treadmill and found out that it was sold to me this way with Proform knowing about the problem. It's a common documented problem where the walking platform starts rubbing on the front roller.

I had sears come to my house to repair and was informed they have had this problem with this model before and that they had a shorter walking board that they use to replace the too long of a board , but that they no longer make the part.

I purchased this treadmill in 1999. I paid $700.00 for this piece of equipment and now it is useless. You may say that it's 10 years old, but think about it, will you go and purchase a $3000.00 model and possibly only be able to use for 10 years?

Low Budget Treadmill with Luxury Features June 23, 2009
    By andy405 of Charlotte, NC
    Pros:
    Great Price,Good practical design,Desireable features,Quiet operation

I researched the 480 before purchasing and the decider for me was the silent operation and bells & whistles for less than $800. I don't use the arms, though it's a good option to have when walking and you want to stimulate the cross-country ski workout. I like the built-in fan which does a decent job of cooling me. I like the display and simple operation. The different exercise routines are a good feature, though I prefer to manually input my speed/incline currently. I really like the instant speed selection, there's no lag waiting for the belt to get to your desired speed. I also feel that the belt shock absorption gives me a more comfortable run, it flexes and is easier on the joints. I use a HR monitor so the built in HR function is redundant. I'm very happy with the 480, would recommend it to others.
