I had done my research on treadmills (treadmillreview.net, etc), but was on the fence, and probably would have been for all of 2009. Wasn't until I saw Sears' 3-day after-Christmas sale and the no-payments 'til Feb. 2010 on all exercise equipment deal. 12/26/2008 The Elite zi was what I had decided to buy and headed to Sears to do the deal. The Zi had a really good ratings (4.5/5 on most sites). However, the T9 ci was next to it and what real caught my eye, besides the price, was the way it looked. So I quickly whipped out my iPhone and went to a few treadmill review sites, and the general consensus was this was a highly recommended, good, buy. The Zi was $1299 (on sale), the T9 ci was $1099. Being a designer, I always think about user experience. The console just looked inviting. The Zi was probably designed for the "prosumer", and just "eh". Well, I'm a "consumer" and the touch screen (while not as cool as the iPhone) just made me want to step on the deck and turn it on. The user interaction was so simple, after it was set up, my 8-year old daughter started using it in under 10 seconds. Swipe to turn it on, choose a workout, and hit start. So far... We've had it for a 2 days and love it. I'm fairly fit, 40, and intend to use one, if not all, of the 8 built-in weight loss programs. I weight a little over 210 and jogging on it was surprisingly okay. I didn't get shin splints after the 20-minute "jog" at 5.5-6.5 mph, even with the deck set at FRIM. I cannot report on durability after 2 days (delivered on the 1/7/2009), it seems fairly solid. It's a little loud, but if you have headphones who cares? If you do care about noise, then hook up your iPod, MP3 player to the console and listen to music through the built-in speakers. Hot? Turn the built-in 4 speed fan....although it cannot be directed at the taller folks, it generally hits the core. Not sure what to make of this... Walking at speeds less than 2 mph, the treadmill feels kinda sluggish, probably because in general we tend to walk faster than 2 mph, it might seem weird. Maybe it's me. Hard to describe. But once you're up to a brisk walking speed or jogging, it's all business. I think I'm too heavy to be running on this treadmill, though, even though it's rated for 325 lbs. HEAVY! Things to note before purchasing. It's heavy and the box, while flat, is easily as large as a 3-person sofa. 2 people are needed to move it into your house, basement, etc. SO, for the price $1099, save yourself any chance of getting a hernia, and spend $65 for delivery and setup. It comes with a lifetime warranty on the motor, and 1 year on parts. Also do yourself a favor and purchase either the 3-year or 5-year warranty on parts. It's a treadmill. It has moving parts that due to your body weight and gravity will wear out over time. The 3-year extended warranty was $189, I think the 5-year $249. So, let's recap. Price: $1099 Delivery/Setup: $65 Extended Warranty: $189 Subtotal: $1353 plus tax (a hair over $1400 w/ tax) Would I recommend to a friend? Yes.

My husband and I purchased this after the New Year (you guessed it - New Year's resolution). We had purchased a Nordic Trac before and been extremely happy with every aspect of the machine. That's why this was the obvious choice for a new treamill. Our first hurdle was finding a store that actually kept what we wanted in stock. I guess this is common practice for all Sears' stores, so I can't hold anyone at fault there. Once we got the treadmill home and assembled it, we found that the control panel was faulty. I contacted Sears and they informed me that if I would bring it back, they would exchange it for me. At this point, my husband and I loaded this 200+ lb beast into the back of our truck and I drove an hour and a half to take it back. We got the 2nd treadmill home, put it together, and it worked just fine. I put it in the living room, thinking I could move it at any time to another, more discrete place. Boy was I wrong. This thing is so big that it will not fit through any of our doorways. In order to get this thing out of the middle of my living room, we are going to have to disassemble it once more. In addition, the controls do not feel well made, at all. The final straw with me as been the touch screen. I started it up this morning and what did I find? A screen that lit up but doesn't display ANYTHING. Needless to say, it makes it pretty hard to select a workout program when you can't see what you are selecting . . . . I'm horribly disappointed in the Nordic Trac brand. They sure don't make them like they used to.

practicalI was really excited to get this machine - purchased at the end of May. Went to use it this morning only to find the console did not display anything! It illuminated - but it did not show a darned thing. Could not choose a workout.....
Research revealed that other customers had similar issues and even when the console was replaced - the replacement exhibited same problem in a short amount of time.
I chose to take no chances, packed it up this afternoon and returned the unit to the Sears store where I purchased it. The machine is very large and heavy and to get it out of my basement was work, but it was a no hassle return and Sears refunded my money in full. Miss the treadmill - but will go with a different brand in the future.
Would buy from Sears again - 90 day window for returns - can't beat it.
We purchased the NordicTrack t9ci treadmill in mid May. Since it has been assembled, it has been plugged in to a surge protector. In late June, the console screen stopped working. The screen still lights up but all of the pixels are black. NordicTrack customer service offered to send a new console. However, since this seems to be a common problem with this treadmill we will be returning it to Sears. If the console were to break again outside of the warranty period, we would be responsible for the cost of the new console. Additionally, this model has been discontinued so I question the availability of a replacement console in the future.
practicalMe and my boyfriend picked this up last week, had it put together in a couple hours and were working out on it right away. We both use it everyday and couldn't be happier.. I looked around for quite some time before finally deciding on this one and we love it, we did buy the extended warnanty since we will be using it everyday. This treadmill is sturdy and heavy duty. my boyfriend is 6'4 and I'm 5'7 and the belt is plenty long, which is one of the things I was concerned about. We have absolutly no complaints what so ever. We love it and would highly recomend this treadmill.
