Good value, solid product. December 19, 2010

We bought this unit about 3 months ago. We have been using it about 2 hours a day, 5 times a week. We wanted a reliable machine that had some simple program functions, the advanced programs of more expensive models seemed overkill to us. This unit was very heavy; the weight gives it a solid feel. However, it does take 2 strong adults to transport it. You also need to do about 2 hours of assembly. On this unit, they used self-tapping screws. These are the type that cut a thread in the metal as you screw it in. This made assembly more difficult than it could have been had they tapped the holes first. The instructions were clear, and it went together without too much frustration. It has been running well for several months and it has met our expectations.

Too many hassles, DO NOT BUY. January 19, 2011

I bought this treadmill slightly over one year ago. It is not too difficult to assemble, although it does take about two hours and you need a screwdriver, wrench, and needle-nose pliers. The way it must be plugged in, and turned on and off is very inconvenient. According to the owners manual, you must use a specially rated surge suppressor (not provided), and if your electrical outlet is not grounded (i.e. it only has two holes instead of three), you need an electrician to install a new outlet. Furthermore, other appliances cannot be plugged into the same outlet, an extension cord cannot be used, and the treadmill must be unplugged and switched off after every use. I have never owned another appliance with such demanding specifications. For about the first six months I had no problem with it. It's reasonably quiet, the speed and incline functions performed well, and it offered some fairly challenging preset workouts. Since then, it has been nothing but trouble. First, the belt started slipping, providing a feeling of running on banana peels. This can be easily corrected by using a hex key to tighten two screws at the end of the treadmill, but this is a temporary fix and must be done after every one or two uses. Also, in the past six months the display has failed twice, causing the treadmill to become inoperable. The second time it failed, the treadmill was three days out of warranty. Luckily, the customer service rep was able to send me a replacement display for only the cost of shipping, but if it fails again it will cost $350 to replace. Overall, this treadmill has too many issues to make it worthwhile, and I do not recommend it to anyone.

Nordic Track T5 zi is a piece of junk November 20, 2011
    via Sears.com
    By NVFL of Orlando, FL

DO NOT BUY NORDIC TRACK!! I have had this treadmill for about one and half year, but hardly used it (:-/) . The console has failed without any wear and tear! Replacement console costs about $350. So my $600 that I spent on this machine is pretty much wasted on a piece of junk! Apparently from reading reviews online the console problems seems to be across the board for Nordic Track treadmills. Even those within warranty had crappy customer service and regretted wasting their money on the unreliable unhelpful company!

Not good for people running daily. August 18, 2011
    via Community Review
    By gallego of Salisbury, MD
    Pros:
    ipod stereo system,20 x 55 inch deck,perfect for a walker
    Cons:
No iFit card included,Requires two people to assemble, built in programs are not great,Belt slipping/hesitation,Does not display HR from a chest strap, handle bars too low for incline,Pulse meter doesn't seem accurate

I have this treatmill since Oct/2010 here is my opinion about this product.

    Pros:

Compact, affordable price, good brand, good sound from built-in speakers.

    Cons:

Makes a lot noise with running over speed 5, looses traction on belt daily; have to readjut the belt tensioning daily, broken after 10 month in service, almost have an accident at home, the main bolt that support the platform with the frame came off and the platform fell on the floor when running at speed 7, it was almost a big issue if I dont stop the machine on time. Called service department and they will send the replacement parts at not cost, but I have to repair it by my self or pay some one to come home and replace the parts. I seen some oil on the floor and have not clue where it come from, I guess it will be the next problem.

If you want a treatmill to run hard and daily think about an expensive model like C900, but this one is good for people just to walk and jogging couple times a week.

    NordicTrack T5 zi Treadmill June 24, 2011
    via Sears.com

    Pros:
    incredible price,rock-solid,perfect for a walker,Smooth and Sturdy

I love this treadmill. I was glad that my husband is mechanically inclined and was able to assemble the machine. I wouldn't have been able to assemble on my own. The treadmill is very sturdy, smooth to walk in, love the preset workouts, love the automatic incline, and speed controls. I use the machine multiple times per day and haven't had any issues. The off and on switch is a little cumbersome to get to--so I bought a clicker switch which makes it much easier to turn on and off. I highly recommend this treadmill.

Poor quality and poor customer services. June 15, 2011
    via Community Review
By robl110 of Saint Paul, MN

We have had nothing but problems since we got this treadmill. Within the first two months of owning it we had to have the motor replaced twice. Thinking back I should have returned it to Sears. Now the treadmill is 15 months old, 3 months out of manufacture warranty and we are having more issues. The only free help Nordic Track will give us is talking through adjustments over the phone. The Nordic Track customer service person has even admitted we have had more than our share of issues with this unit but will not send someone out unless we pay. Our current problem is the belt will not stay in adjustment.

Oh well, shame on me for not returning it the first time I had trouble.
