Good For The Price June 25, 2009

Pool + Table Tennis. I have been satisfied with the table overall for the price I paid. I did have to super glue one of the wood pieces back on where it was suppose to be, but that did not bother me. This table is VERY heavy so be careful lifting it! (Especially if you are like me and don't have any help). It is also not made of the more durable slate material found in more expensive tables. I have been told that after 3-5 years the table may be "warped." I'm guessing that means the balls will roll around in weird directions when playing pool. Although, I am not a professional pool player and as long as I can't visually tell the table is warped, I won't mind playing on it. On the other hand, if after 5 years I can see humps and bumps in the table, I'm sure I'll get rid of it. Assembly was relatively easy. The wood does seem a bit flimsy, but once you get the table all put together it feels sturdy enough. It looks great in the room I put it in (red color scheme). Use a leveler to make sure the table is leveled. Mine did need leveling and it comes with 6 leveling pads of different thicknesses to put under the legs. In my case 6 wasn't enough and I did have to improvise a bit. The table tennis portion of the table is a pain to put on and take off mainly because the 3 sections are sort of heavy. I can also never quite get the sections flush together completely so there are basically 3 small gaps in the table when playing. However, I love table tennis, I play it all the time and these gaps almost never get in the way of playing a good game. If the ball hits one of the gaps and bounces awkwardly, we just call an "interference and do-over." No biggie because as I said it almost never happens. If it bothers you that much you can always buy a table tennis top separately for this size pool table. Overall, for 599.99 (about 650 with tax), I am satisfied with the purchase and look forward to many fun years of pool and table tennis.

I should have got a free case of crackers with this thing,...ITS SO CHEESY! by far the worst thing Ive ever bought, If I had not already carried the thing upstairs I would take it back to sears and leave it at the door. Its all particle board, and not good particle board either. its just one step above cardboard. It was falling apart right out of the box. I had to glue and screw the thing back together befor it could be assembled. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!

96 Cobalt, Very poor table surface do not purchase, disappointed February 21, 2011
    By Perkins1 of Brooklyn, NY
    Cons:
    very cheap construction materials

This is what I wrote directly to Sportcraft:

Playing pool is one of my recreational sports that I have been playing for over 15 years. My wife purchased the 96" Cobalt model 32942 PL from Sears for my Birthday.

The pool table looks very nice; however, I am very disappointed in the pool table surface. It really takes all the fun out of playing on this table. As a novice carpenter that's knowledgeable of different wood surfaces, why didn't your company take that extra effort to use 3/4" mill side plywood as a smooth surface? How much more would that really cost?

I'm very disappointed in this product, I want to pack it up and send it back to Sears but my wife wouldn't understand why. This was a Birthday present so I have to keep it and pretend I really like the pool table so my wife don't think I'm unappreciative.

I will not recommend this table and I will write a comment on the internet blogs to all billiard fans to not purchase this table. I cannot believe your company didn't use mill planed plywood since the purchase price is too low for a slate surface. The billiard balls roll all over the table in such an un -orderly fashion.

I put the table together yesterday 19Feb11 and I'm already online looking to see how much it cost to refelt the table. I'm inclined to use a 4X8 laminate sheet over the wood your company uses. Not sure of the outcome but it has to be better than what is there now. I do understand, you get what you pay for, but this takes it to another level. I am very disappointed and a very unsatisfied customer. I will expect a response from your company. If there is no response via email, I will write your company and express my discontent in this product.

I will write Sears and express my discontent in them selling this product.

Heavy but very low quality construction materials wont last long September 19, 2010

Save your money and put it towards a better table.   I could not agree more with the review that said this table should have come with a box of crackers9 it is cheesy).  i bought this for the kids thinking it would be an economical but fun game room item.  Its constructed of poor quality materials, that do not fit well together.  If it were not so heavy I would have returned it.  I figure the kids will get a few years out of it at best and we'll have a big mess of particle board to dispose of.  Save your money
