I bought the 4830 Total Body Trainer by Star Trac online at Sears on Black Friday 2009, for $649.99. With tax and shipping; it came to $852.26. On every other site that day, the 4830 was about $1550, I think before shipping and tax. I was hesitant to buy this machine because there were very few reviews anywhere, but it has proven perfect for my needs - 3 or 4 cardio workouts per week, 45 minutes to an hour. I'm at an intermediate fitness level, at 5'8", 156 pds. Before purchase, I was worried about the front wheel drive and stride length. because I was accustomed to using Lifecycles with back wheel drive and a bit more stride length. This machine is a different feel, in that it does not feel as free in motion as the Lifecycle, but is just as effective and includes modern features; it is a sturdy machine, doesn't feel cheap; I became comfortable on it after my first workout. My husband is 6'2" and approximately 190. The stride length is not comfortable for him, but with resistence, it becomes adequate and he can appreciate the 4830. He had a little challenge putting it together towards the end but figured it out - you may need an L wrench or something that can turn a screw in a very small space. There's no good reason to go to a public gym now. My husband uses my 4830 to warm up. I use his sophisticated weight system to build muscle. It's a gym.

I recently purchased this Star Trac Fitness 4830, it was very easy to put together by myself being a female. Its very smooth riding once the lubricant is on it. I enjoy it because I can hook my DVD player up to it and watch a movie while I workout. It makes it all worth working out and enjoying it at the same time. I would recommend this machine to anyone that is looking for an Elliptical that you want good workout from. When you get it I hope you enjoy it, cause I do.

When I ordered my Star Trac Fitness 4830 for $699.00 I expected to receive a low end elliptical. What a pleasant surprise. This system has 12 programs plus the ability to set up my own program. I can plug my MP3 player and listen to my music or I can hook up my satellite dish or DVD player and watch it on the 7 inch LCD screen. The 4830 is quiet and very smooth. My entire family is using it every day. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality total body trainer for a GREAT price. The assembly was simple and setting up the programs was very easy.
