Roaster deluxe + March 01, 2008
The price after rebate of $10 costs the buyer $4+. The roasting pan is large and has a grate, so the fat drips into the pan. The handles to pick the roaster up are awkward. One must hope this has no lead. It comes with a wooden cutting board, which might be OK to slice bread on. The set also includes knives and maybe gadgets, however I have so many of these, I just toss them into the pile. I've tried putting the roaster into my oven's broiler, since it has the grate. That's a no go. It's too large. I've successfully cooked my turkey-beef meatloaf and chicken dishes. The pan is easy to clean, as I use Pam before cooking. The grate takes a bit more effort in cleaning. Overall, when Sears has a product on rebate, one gets a great deal. This is not the first rebate great deal from Sears that I've bought. Very satisfied with the Sears houseware, rebate items.

To be fair you really do get what you pay for, the Wish for Joy 11-Piece Roaster Set is not the best roaster set but then it is not the most expensive set either. I picked this set up because I needed something to make kalhua Pork for a squadron BBQ and it did the job, I don't think it will last very long, the clean up wasn't very easy and it really is not something that I would put in the dishwasher. It is an average set and nothing more. I would say I was dissapointed in it but I also would be crushed it someone barrowed it and forgot to return it.

Pros:
GoodGood basic product. I wonder why the roasting pan was not made of heavy guage stainless steel or a better titanium alloy ? There was not enought specifications on the materials used and coatings on the pan for us to make a better informed decision.

The product I was most excited about in this box set was the roasting pan itself. I was very disappointed. To be fair my one use was a prolonged one. I roasted a full 8 lb pork shoulder in the roasting set at 350 for about 5 hours. There was water in the roasting pan to prevent too much smoking, but it would periodically dry out and I would add more when noticed. Well after scrubbing the plan clean from this one use the paint / non stick coating came over on probably 20% of the cooking area. I then put the now chipped pan through the dishwasher for further cleaning, and it came out well rusted. Do not buy this set! I will now be testing the Sears/manufacturer warranty process.
