    Works well, looks stylish January 28, 2009

    Like most modern kitchens, we have a wine refrigerator. This Krups chiller looks very stylish on top of ours. I like my high end kitchen gadgets and my husband was amazed that this was my idea! This eliminates warm or half drunk beer bottles and the freshness is perfect too. I actually think my husband will drink less beer with this around since it offers that just-right first sip without the additional ounces. It has certainly been a hit with our friends and neighbors.

    Didn't even last a year December 15, 2009

    My original review was a decent one. I loved the concept and my hubby thought it was the greatest Christmas gift ever.

     

    ♦The Cons:♦

    • After about 7 months, it started to die to him.. it wouldn't keep the kegs cool anymore, the lights started getting all crazy.... went from red (warm) to green (cold) to red to green to red to green...  it wasn't refrigerating at ALL.. dispensing warm beer..  etc.

    • Can only be used with Heinekin Beer

    • You must get extra tubing to change with each keg

    • Draught Kegs do not hold a lot of beer..  about a gallon and a half... not recommended for entertaining.

    • You must keep spare draught kegs on hand in the frige.. When you buy them, they're stored unrefrigerated and they need to be chilled prior to putting in the beer tender. The refrigeration until is not powerful enough to chill a keg.. just keep it chilled (see below)

    • Does not do a very good job of keeping beer chlled.  It was seriously a little over room temperature :(

    It's cute and my husband will love it. Too bad it only works with Heineken kegs :(

    I would give it 5 stars if we were able to use it with ANY kind of beer and if it didn't go on sale a couple days right after I purchased it. It was still an ok price tho...

    Got the Krups about 2 months ago and have been loving it. Pouring the beer is easy as long as you rinse the glass out before you pour the beer. Also the beer needs to be cold when you put it in the unit. The little cooler is designed to keep the keg cool, not so much to cool it down. Everyone's been loving it.

    Pros: Looks great, works even better. Beer on tap whenever you want.

    Cons: Only Heinecken available at the time. Need to change tubes everytime you get a new keg (you can get around that if you take the old one off and clean it, but it takes a bit of effort.)
