This is a fantastic coffee maker! I bought one for my husband Dec.2003 and we used it daily and occasionally 2-3 times. It finally died in Feb.08 this year. I also bought 3 more as gifts in 2006, 1 of which was a backup for my husband. We began using it in Feb. this year and in July the catch that holds the top closed broke and we have used a rubber band to keep it closed but it still works great. everyone who drinks the coffee says its the best ever.better than from coffee shop. However I think its time for a new one now, without rubber band. I hope I can get the warranty to cover it...

This unit has good and bad features. I really like the programing feature, which is also on many others. I like that the warming plate temp can be adjusted. I thought it neat that it has a self clean button, although a dishrag works. I love the auto grind feature...I REALLY WISH IT WORKED. It grinds only enough to shoot thru the holes. It doesn't hold enough beans to make 10 cups when it doesn't grind right. I found myself using my trusty grinder. If you use the grinder, the entire unit must be pulled apart to be cleaned EVERYTIME. I found it to be sturdy, after 1 year nothing has broken. Please remember that I am NOT pulling/yanking it apart EVERYDAY. The outside cleans quickly and it has an exterior water gauge. Still looking for the perfect coffee pot.....
I had been wanting a coffee maker that also grinds coffee beans, so when I found the Cusinart Automatic Grind and Brew 10-cup coffee maker for a reasonable price at Sears, I put it on my Christmas wish list!
I've been using it for about 1 1/2 years now and still love it. It did take a few minutes of reading the instruction booklet to figure it out, but once I learned how, operating it was easy. And you can use either coffee beans or ground coffee with it -- either way, it makes a great cup of freshly-brewed coffee.

We had one that lasted only 1 year. Its alot of plastic parts which 3 of them broke on mine but i was still able to use, then the grinder broke and that was it this peace of JUNK. The top lid hinge broke, I had to wedge a peace of wood from my cabinet to the top of the coffee pot to keep it closed for it to work. The pourer on the pot snapped off, Then finally the grinder seized up. Don't buy this garbage.
