Proctor Silex  Cool-Touch 4-Slice Toaster

We regularly use this item to toast bread and bread related products. two weeks ago, the left side of the toaster just stopped working. No reason, no clicks or bangs... it just stopped functioning. This week, the right side did the exact same thing. It's after the 90 day policy, and no one will spend the money to repair a toaster. I have to be honest though, after purchasing this product at the end of November, a short 6 months ago, I did not expect to have to replace something I bought at Sears. I am sorely dissapointed. I now have to spend the money on a toaster that won't break on me within a year of its purchase. I am sad to say I will not be purchasing a similar item at Sears in the future.

I like the facility that we have now in my family with this toaster, anybody needs to wait. The red push bottom for cancel is great. The kids don't suffer if touch the sides, it keeps cool. And look very nice over the cabinet.

great price, slick design, bold in color. great for the average home use.

Keeps toast warm until you are ready to add butter...just have to lift lever and take out!! settings are just right for light,medium or dark...I love the cool touch,kids don't hurt themselves and no more melted breadbags!!!

Just got this toaster. Its toasts well. Like the boost feature as I was always burning my fingers unless I used a utensil to get the toast out with my old toaster. So far am very pleased.

I wasn't expecting perfection for the price, but I would have at least like to get the toast out without sticking my fingers down in it. I won't ever order online again, because I can't return it to a Sears store, I have to pay for return shipping, which is pointless for the price of the toaster. So I will be buying one from another store, and chalking this up to another bad product purchase through Sears online. When will I learn...hopefully this time. Don't waste your money on this, unless you like sticking your fingers down in your HOT toaster to get the toasted items out.

I have so many issues with this toaster.  1) It shouldn't be advertised as a "cool touch" toaster since you can get burnt each time you use this, unless you wait for the toaster to cool down (didn't have this issue with my previous T-fal).  I burnt a finger pretty bad just taking out some toast.  2) Mini bagels or english muffins are almost impossible to get out of the toaster without assistance of a fork and normal sized bagels get stuck.  3) The toaster boost is utterly useless.

I am going to spend the extra $25 and get a T-FAL avante (which I previously had)

This toaster is very nearly perfect. It toasts one to four slices of bread, bagels, etc. evenly, and the darkness settings are very responsive. A slight adjustment in the setting, and the level of toasting is perfect. The "cool to the touch" claim for the plastic parts are no lie, and I love the fact that each side has a cancel button. Like many people, I've always bought cheap toasters to "save money", and put up with their uneven toasting and bad controls, hoping that the replacement I'd have to buy in a couple of years would work better. Never again! This little gem has taught me a lesson: buy something decent in the first place, and it won't have to be replaced as often, and it will be far less frustrating to use. There are only two downsides to this. One is that fact that, as others have pointed out, the racks don't lift the bread -- bagels and English muffins in particular -- high enough to get them out without some difficulty, and the possibility of burning your hands is very real. However, that's a drawback common to pretty much every toaster ever. I've never encountered one yet that didn't leave things sitting too low to grab. Honestly, this lifter is the best I've found so far, as imperfect as it is. The other downside is another one common to all toasters, and unfortunately pretty much all counter-top appliances: the cord is TOO SHORT! This is supposed to be a "safety" measure, but if you don't have an outlet within a foot of where you put the toaster, you have to find an extension cord of some sort, which is far less safe than simply having a decent length cord to begin with! It's also really hard to find a toaster cover that will fit over a four-slice model, as I discovered after I got it, but that's life.

We love our new toaster. It toast just perfect & my hubby can toast his bagels in it. Easy clean-up slide out crumb tray. We like how it looks in our kitchen. Great buy!!
