This is a good, solid, old fashioned can opener. I have never been a fan of the electric models and this one gets the job does and will for years. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I feel like the hand grips could be designed a bit more comfortably but all it all it works well.

Electronic appliances are the greatest and the best technology created. However the most aggravting thing to me is to go into the kitchen in hopes of opeing a can or bottle and the electric can opener do not work. Or going on a picnic or vacation and there is no way to use the electric. Well, before I purchased the hand-hell can opener, I would us a knife to stab holes in the can top and then try to widen the hole with the knife to get the food into a pot or bowel. Well the happiness of not using technology and opening a can the old-fashion way with a hand-held can opener replaces the use of the electric can opener. This kitched aid black can opener is the greatest back-up product to have handy next to a failing electrical can opener. Another great feature this hand-held can opener has is these old-fashioned cokes in bottles with the tops that require a can opener. This product can be used without electricity which is great, as well as taken this product on picnics, having one in my car is a plus. I would not have the use of this product any other way. This product brings joy to my heart and I am extremely excited to have several on hand. Thanks to whomever created this product because if no one like using this product I definitely do and I am very happy.

Use it more than the electric, very handy & works great!

I bought this product because i needed a good can opener and kitchen aid makes good products. This is a good can opener it is very smooth and quick to use.

We have a Rubbermaid can opener at work and I I love this opener! I was so impressed with the opener that I was on the hunt to purchase this brand! Now, this is my second purchase of this can opener for gifts for others. It is so easy to turn the handle and the flow and motion is so smooth! By far the best hand held can opener I've used! I would highly recommend this and makes a great little gift too.

Of all the can openers I've owned this one has been the very best.  It's going on ten years at the least, and still is sharp and easy to use.

I had this canopener for less than a year and it never really worked well.  I purchased it because it looks nice and the brand is a well known one.  The canopener never locked properly onto a can and when I finally got it to puncture the can it wouldn't turn,   The only way I got it to open a can was by continuously puncturing around the edge of the can which I don't believe is the intended use.  Kitchenaid is eroding their reputation by selling this shoddy product.  I will think twice or three times about purchasing any other Kitchen Aid products.

Good, I use it to open tin cans often, and it still works, very good

Easy to use, easy to grip, better than previous manual opener. Handles are padded for comfort, and the LARGE crank is easy for arthritic hands (mine) to grip. Has heft and balance.

This is a poorly manufactured can opener. I bought it because of the name and good looks. It broke after opening 3 cans. The handle fell off. My old can opener lasted 10 years, I am sorry I threw it away. It was a little rusty, and had an uncomfortable handle, but it was still attached. My trusty old can opener cost $1.98. The Kitchen Aid one cost 22.00.
