I was in the market for a new food processor. I teach Family and Consumer Science. I cook extensivley and looked at the higher end models. I just could not spend that amount money for an item I use frequently but not everyday. I looked at cheaper model and just thought I would be replacing the item in a year. I love the Kenmore food processor andt is the perfect size for my family of four. It is very simple to use and no effort to clean up. The plastic hardware seems very sturdy and a simple switch to change speeds from pluse to grinding. I just love it and made a wise purchase. The only draw back in design is the handle is open and food can become stuck up in the handle from underneath or when you wash the bowl. I cannot think this will be a major issue later on.

The motor burned out on me after owning this for a few years. I only used it a handful of times each year. Bowl and lid are hard to get on and off. Has only one speed so it doesn't really chop well. Grater and slicer worked great. I've always enjoyed and trusted Kenmore appliances, but my next one won't be a Kenmore.

I bought this food processor about seven months ago. It was the first new food processor I had ever bought. The motor seems strong and still works just fine. Unfortunately, the plastic parts started falling apart after just a couple of weeks. The top clasp, was the first to break, but since it was still functional, I decided to keep it. Next the attachment for shredding and slicing broke. Gradually, parts and pieces started cracking and falling apart. Now that it leaks I am ready to throw in the towel. Luckily I got the Sears warranty, so I should be able to return it. It seems like such a waste, as the motor still works perfecly well.
I got this as a gift. I used it to shred cheese the cup it self broke in half, and when I went to return it the gave me a new one. I am now on my second one in less than two years. I was using it this weekend to make pie crust and the top button broke off when I put the top on. Mind you it only had 2 cups of flour and cubed butter in it. Now I am returning it and upgrading to another kitchenaid.
The motor in my food processor gave out after only 5 or 6 uses. The few times I used it it worked pretty well, so I was surprised when it died so suddenly. The bowl and lid were difficult to get into place, too. I bought it because I trusted the Kenmore brand, but I don't know that I'll buy another Kenmore appliance again. It seems like the Kenmore brand isn't as high quality as it used to be (at least for small appliances). I'm going to replace it with a KitchenAid or Cusinart.
all about reliabilityThe motor failed before its first use. Furthermore, it is very difficult to align and take apart. It takes quite a bit of strength, and I worry the plastic will break.
This is an inferior Kenmore product and the warranty is de minimis (2 years). It was easy to return since it was within the two year warranty, but it will probably fail again after the warranty expires. Kenmore should have re-designed the motor years ago and taken this product out of stores.
I would strongly recommend you look at other brands and food processors with longer warranties. Furthermore, based on others' reviews, it appears that this is an inferior product with no durability. It makes me question the advisability of purchasing any Kenmore products when such a simple product is so poorly made.
