Electric induction elements provide best cooktop performance, safety and efficiency. Unlike other electric elements, induction elements provide the precise temperature control of gas burners for gourmet cooking. Turning the dial down, the heat energy to the pan immediately decreases. Magnetic waves have no effect on skin or anything other than iron or steel. If the pan is accidentally removed from the cooktop, no more heat is produced.

Second one I've bought from Sears (and last) if you can't touch it? don't buy it. Sears doesn't stock them in store so you can't -really- see what is going on. What cook has NEVER had a pot boil over? The idiots who designed this unit could have made a gutter on the rim to channel such accidents SOMEWHERE BESIDES THE ACCESS TO THE INSIDES where it naturally rolls around to and SHORTS OUT THE UNIT. both of mine have lasted about a year. They work great but good luck if you EVER leave the room. I'll buy my next induction unit somewhere I can actually 'see' the design. John C. Campbell III, Annapolis, Md.

My wife has it for 3 years, we're about to buy another. Very easy, quick and dependable. You must use the correct cookware, i.e. does a magnet stick to it. Does not need to be expensive as other review claims. Induction depends on magnetic heating!

I bought this for my daughter and she complained that it just kept beeping and never heated up. We tried it here with my more expensive cookware (because that's what it calls for) and once again it just beeps and beeps. I am returning it. The controls and instructions were easy enough. Not a good product.
