Kenmore Steam Iron 1700w
Excellent iron! I was hooked on the Black & Decker digital models for quite a while, but after constant leakage problems, I began to lose patience with them. Came across this Kenmore while looking for yet another B&D. I didn't realize that Kenmore even made irons. Best iron I've owned thus far! No leakage problems.

have had ours a long time.
i just relized that this is the iron my husband had before we were married. As i never iron i wouldn't have known unless i looked. he dose all the ironing and seems to like this iron. keep making great items that people can depend on.Thanks Kenmore.

not a first rate iron by any measure
Purchased as a replacement for my 5 year old Rowenta Professional iron which recently died. In comparison to the Rowenta: Function Cons: Weak burst of steam; wide rounded (rather than pointed) end does not glide as smoothly as a pointed end; cycles off frequently, although only for a short period of time. Ergonomics are poor! Handle is not comfortable in my hand and the temperature controls are positioned so that one's hand rides over them; oversize sole plate is clumsy to use; the 4 position steam control does not slide smoothly. 12' cord sounds nice but it takes10 turns to wrap it around the base for storage; it's unnecessarily long. Besides, the overall design is clunky and cheap and the manufacturing quality is low. The plastic trim is thin and 'bumpy' in places and C-shaped chrome metal bar on which the iron rests when in the upright position is cheesy looking. I thought I would never buy another Rowenta iron until I tried this Kenmore model.

Nice iron the second time around
I bought this model because it was rated #1 by Consumer Reports, The first time I used it, the burst of steam and upright steam didn't work. Back to the store for a replacement. The 2nd one works fine. I just wish the water pitcher was large enough to fill the iron in one trip to the sink.

Disappointing
Purchased this iron after reading its review by ****************. Took it home and found it must have been a returned item. The soleplate clearly showed that it had used and I found that the "on" button was really difficult to push, so I returned it too. Took home the replacement (same model) and found that the "burst of steam" and "spray" function didn't work, forcing me the drive back to the store again. Living 40 minutes from this store, I decided not to try a third time and just ended up returning it for a refund. I later purchased a Singer which I am very happy with and, best of all, it works. Outside of the problems mentioned, I thought the iron was a little too heavy at 3.5 pounds and it felt a little bulky. The best feature is the steam function. It is excellent - a nice constant amount that easily removes wrinkles with one pass, that is if you're lucky enough to purchase one that isn't defective like the second one I brought home.

I bought this iron a few years ago and it still work good, the only small problem i have with it is tghe build up on the surface that sometime cause the iron to stick to and dirty what i am ironing and i must clean it from time to time but overall it is a very good Iron
