I bought this drill because I lost my other corded power drill when I moved. This drill is much lighter compared to both older corded power drills and the regular battery operated drills. This drill is extremely powerful, I've managed to drill into concrete and 1/4in. steel. The good thing about this drill is that you can control the power of the drill by pressing lightly or hard on the trigger. The drill did come with a case however, it didn't come with drill or screw bits, which I needed to buy separately. The keyless chuck is nice but if you're old fashioned like me, you can hand tighten the chuck.

Give me a chuck key
Maybe it's just the new thing now and it's that I'm not used to it -- but I want chuck keys to come back! This keyless chuck concept doesn't work well in application. I have found that it's difficult to engage the button properly to insert the bit and while using the drill, anytime there's resistance, the chuck loosens and the bit is released. Maybe mine's just malfunctioning, but I prefer a system where I know the bit is in tight and staying there rather than this new automated system.

Drill will do the job
I'm not a huge tool user...I'm a woman who just uses these items for repairs around the house. I bought a corded drill because the power-cost ratio was the best. I tried to use it for removing tough screws from my deck but it didn't work so well. Maybe it wasn't the drill's fault, just tough screws. It works fine around the house, but for that a cordless would've been better. So it depends on what you need to use it for. More experienced drill users could say more about this product that I.

The Old Fashioned Corded Drill
This corded drill has everything that you would need for doing average projects around the house. Variable speeds, comfortable grip and enough power for the project. The comfortable grip is a plus for us 60+ do-it-yourselfers. And, you can just pick this baby up when you need it and not have to worry if the battery is charged.

Nice drill, So-so chuck
Like others have mentioned this is a fine drill with plenty of power. The problem is with the keyless chuck you may never get to use all that power because the bit slips. Not every time, but enough to make me use my 25 year old corded drill instead, even though it's rated at 1/2 the power of this one. For a screwdriver or a buffer it should be fine, but if you need to drill into knotty wood or metal then pass on this one for a drill with a keyed chuck.

The CRAFTSMAN 3/8 in. Drill fits my grip
I needed a Drill that had variable speed and reversible capabilities. The Craftsman 3/8 in. does the trick. It also fits my small hand grip and is light weight without holding back the power.

Good simple tool at a fair price. It would work a lot better if I was a little more skilled but for me it is the bomb. Puts anchors into drywall and installs towel racks and home maintenance just fine.

The Craftsman 3/8" Corded Drill is powerful & handy.
My husband and I purchased this drill for my father-in-law for Christmas and he is thrilled! The drill is suitable for men and women as it is powerful without being too much to handle. It is easy to use and very handy. The keyless chuck makes changing bits a quick and easy task. The price was excellent as well! This drill performs just as well, if not better, as similar drills that cost $30-100 more! The Craftsman 3/8 in corded drill is a great buy!

Keyless chucks suck...
I will never ever ever buy a drill with a keyless chuck ever again! When the drill bit catches, and it will, the bit will spin. This NEVER happens with a keyed chuck! You will break many many bits with a keyless chuck. Try to retrieve a broken bit from solid steel.
