Great drill for the money, perfect for do-it-yourself homeowner. July 08, 2010
I got this drill to replace a cordless drill (I wore the batteries out and liked the idea of not having to be limited by charging times). It has more than enough power to complete any task around the house (I have put together a playset, drilled a dozen glass blocks as part a project for my wife and ground through porcelain flower pots with no problem). There is little vibration and the chuck works well.
The case is pre-molded plastic. It holds the drill and cord well but not the hammer attachment (this just floats around inside). That is the only complaint about the product.

drills well once the bit is in place July 23, 2010
I bought this drill with the intention of hanging some shelving. The cordless drill I had would not drive the screws into the wall even with the pilot holes drilled. I knew that I needed more power and that involved getting a corded model. Well this drill did the job in no time.
The adjustable handle (vertical or horizontal) and grip is very comfortable to do all sorts of drilling. When coupled with a Craftsman drill bit this thing drills through just about any type of material.
However, sometimes the drill bit does not spin if it doesn't already have the hole started so then you need to unscrew and re-screw the bit back in for it to work properly, the downfall of having a keyless chuck system. Also the drill does get scratched rather easily because of it's plastic casing.
Otherwise it's a solid unit.

Pros:
ConvenientBattery dead or low on charge. This Drill performs in the pinch. The handle is located in a convenient spot and can stay installed even if you don't need it, without getting in the way. The keyless chuck is not overbearing and tightens on the bit without ripping apart your hand. Pro and Con that the chuck will release the bit if it gets stuck. But Tighten it up, put the drill in reverse the drill bit will back out of the hole. Check your convenient levels and redrill the hole.
Overall a simple and always ready drill. This is a neccesity if you have ever found yourself near the end of a job without charged drill. Well priced with the power to finish the job.

PowerfulThis is my second Craftsman drill--first one still works, was purchased in 1986 and getting a little cranky(needs new motor brushes). Found a new one to be cost effective. Really pleased with the purchase, corded, no batteries to charge or wear out. Like the alloy gear case and built-in levels. First time with a keyless chuck, not an issue. Hard case a bonus for travel. Could have spent a lot more but feel like this is a great tool for my application(household use). In it's first few uses have found nothing negative to report. Sears is a great place to shop!
