Clever idea that actually works... with a bit of muscle. August 20, 2009

Unlike the previous reviewer it did not break. The twisting handle came in really handy a couple of times. I have not yet had a chance to extend it and use it, so cannot comment on that. I used it to change spark plugs in my V6 without removing the exhaust manifold.

I give 4 stars and not 5 because the knob (switch?) to change between clock-and-anti-clockwise is not very smooth and can get jammed some times.

The soft rubber handle is also nice, especially if a large force is needed. The twisting mode of operation is very convenient if the part will come off relatively easily, but there is no room to use a regular ratchet. Because the lever arm for the twisting motion is very small, you cannot exert high torques. I overcame that by using two pliers, one to hold and twist the handle, and another the hold the metal neck.

    Not Happy May 10, 2009

Great idea but very poorly made. It broke on the first try, it was at my house for about one hour until it went back to the store. The other ones at the store had the same defect. I really wanted this tool to work, but when you ask a tool to do a few things they never do one thing right, unless they are very expensive.

    Pros:
Clever idea for tight spaces,Extension is potentially useful,Rubber handle is nice, sturdy

The previous person who said the rachet broke probably puts incorrect torque on the rachet. I used a breaker bar and it didnt break or slip. i used it with some deep well sockets to put rims on my car and it worked great.

One of the most useful tools i've ever used December 18, 2009

    Cons:
Low torque in handle twisting mode

An old roommate and I found a similar tool at **************** ago, and when we couldn't find it there we went to sears in the hopes they had something similar.  This tool is even better than the one we found there because of the speed ratcheting capability.

Since Sears decided not to upload a picture of the tool when it's closed, I feel I should mention this: the "elbow" piece in the picture slides into the handle so you can simply twist the handle to tighten/loosen.  This allows this device to reach places that few other socket wrenches are useful for since you don't have to pull the whole piece.

The day I got it, an old roommate and I were changing out the radiator in my car.  This tool saved lots of extra time and work on at least 7 occasions with that job alone, and I anticipate more of the same time saving in the future.

To summarize, this is one of the most useful tools I have ever used, and would (and have) recommended it to all my friends.
