      The Edsal Heavy Duty Shelving was worth the cost. November 05, 2010

      I bought these shelves after reading the reviews so I knew the shelving material might be less than desirable.  I bought three units and am very pleased.  The support structure is very sturdy and I was able to put them together without help.  As described by others, the wooden shelves provided are fairly thin. I don't think the given shelves would last too long before sagging if used with any moderately heavy weight because of the size of the shelves (24 x 48 inches).  I replaced four pieces with thicker wood that I had around the shop.  I then paired up the four I had replaced and made two more thick pieces by gluing the pieces together.  So I now have 6 heavy duty shelves and 9 shelves that are using the provided shelving.  I don't have a lot of weight on the 9 lighter shelves and so far things seem fine with them.  I'll probably replace more as more scrap plywood becomes available.

      Overall I'm very pleased with the shelves and would have given them a 5 stars if the shelves had been thicker.

      24x48x72 shelving November 23, 2010

      The boxes were damaged, one box did not have one of the four plastic safety protectors (keep your fingers from getting smashed between the upper vertical support and items you might be lifting to place on upper shelf; the mfg offers to replace missing pieces w/o any major issue).  Several corners were chipped due to damaged box.

      Shelves are plenty sturdy - happy w/ the purchase

      I needed shelving that was strong enough to hold some rather heavy containers as well as the typical garage clutter. This Edsal shelving was the perfect solution. It is strong enough for large heavy tubs and easy to configure to handle a multitude of odd sized items. The product was easy to assemble (about 30 minutes after unpacking). The vertical bracket joints were a bit of a problem to allign which caused a bit of a delay but was easy enough to figure out. This is a quality product at a reasonable price and I would recommend it to all.

      The holes would not line up when assembling.  Had to use as 2 seperate units rather than 1 tall unit.
