    Has a learning curve, and can easily frustrate November 15, 2010

    I have spent many hours washing and waxing my cars. So when I had a chance to purchase this buffer at half price, I thought I would give it a try.

    One should not expect to be a pro with this right out of the box. The buffer does have a learning curve. It takes some time to figure out how much wax to use. You quickly understand not to turn the buffer one while it is off the automobile surface. The biggest hurdle is figuring out what to with the power cord. The cord has a velco strap holder to keep the pig tail cord, and the extension cord together. The first time I tried to figure it out it kept coming undone several times, and left me frustrated. After a few more attempts, I got it to work. The hardest part is keeping it on your shoulder. Getting the pads on is hard, but once it's on, you are happy that it has a snug fit.

    Th bucket is great, altought mine cracked, but is still usable. 

    In the end, the buffer saves my shoulder and some time, but I am still trying to perfect my technique. I can't give this buffer five stars because I can't by the pads at Sears. This is a big downer, because now I don't have a good reason to go to Sears.

    The Craftsman 10 in. Buffer/Polisher lacks power, doesn't work. April 14, 2011

    The 10 in. buffer/polisher comes in a great all-in-one storage bucket with two bonnets each: applicator bonnet, terry cloth bonnet, buffing bonnet, and a hand applicator sponge. An excellent value, if only it worked for what it was intended. The motor on the buffer is not powerful enough to polish or buff, let alone try to apply wax on any type of surface. When you apply any pressure on the buffer, the pad literally stops orbiting and/or turning in a circular motion as intended. The buffer/polisher is thus rendered useless when attempting to apply wax or cleaner on autos, counters, floors or wood furniture because a 1 hour job turns into a 3-4 hour job when you cannot apply pressure during application or removal of wax, cleaner, or buffing solutions.

    Therefore, I cannot recommend this item to any person interested in buffing or polishing cars, counters, furniture, or floors.

    I bought the buffer after reading several reviews here and I have to say, it was better than expected. Some of the reviews state that the motor stops if you add too much pressure and that the buffer couldnt keep up with peoples polishing style. If you read the manual and do as it says, add light pressure (or none at all) and let the buffer do the work for you, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. The power cord sometimes gets in the way a little. 5 gallon bucket is a nice touch to keep al of your polishing stuff neat and clean. Comes with a hand applicator too which is nice as the buffer cannot reach all areas of the vehicle. For the price, you can't go wrong. Just read the instruction manual and it produces the results you would expect from an orbital buffer

    This buffer is quite useful for home use on a casual basis. It's not as heavy in weight as a multispeed car buffer, but quite adequate for buffing and shining cars and other smooth metal faced objects. Be careful not to press too hard or let it get coated with buffing compounds, etc.

    You want your chariot to look great- then this is for you. Whether it is a Rolls Royce or a rattletrap- your vehicle will look like a professional worked on it. You get professional results with little effort. No more rubbing and rubbing to put on wax and then more rubbing and more rubbing to get it off. Basically you just hold the machine onto the car in the area you want to work on and it does the work for you. The orbital action simulates you moving back and forth and doesn't leave a circle like some buffer do. If you want your car to look great then this is your machine
