HAND SANDER
THIS SANDER CAME TO OHIO FROM PA. 9 YEARS AGO IN WHICH I HAD THERE FOR ROUGHLY 5 YEARS. TOTALING 13 + YEARS. IT FINALLY "DIED" YESTERDAY SO MONDAY I AM GOING TO SEARS TO PURCHASE ANOTHER EXACTLY LIKE THIS ONE. IT HAS TREATED ME A + ONE.

Definately not reliable!!!
I am a wood worker and constantly using power tools. Althought I am a die hard Craftsman tool buyer, this sander along with the previous model sanders like this one is not reliable. I have had 7 sanders like this one over the last few years and all of them have lasted about 3 hours of use during moderate sanding duties. I just kept thinking that this was a fluke so I kept buying them... Here is the problem with them. All of the sanders have had the on/off switch short out on them rendering them useless. At first they just won't turn back on after you turn them off to swap out sand paper. After a few minutes of tapping, thumping and eventually banging the sanders on the floor they will turn on again. It starts all over again once it is turned off. Vibrations are moderate. If you are looking for a great sander, go with a Dewalt brand, 100 times better than Craftsman sanders. Unfortunately this sander is the only Craftsman tool that I would not recommend.

It is a shame to put the Craftsman brand on this
I bought this to sand some patio furniture. The problem is the clips that hold the sandpaper in place are no good. The sand paper either keeps moving to the right or comes out of the clips altogether. The engineering is certainly not up to standards I have come to expect from Craftsman. The only way I was finally able to solve the problem is to put some masking tape on the edge of the sandpaper to keep it in place. On the plus side. The handle is very comfortable to hold and use. That is why I gave it one star.

Dependable light duty sander.
For any home project this is a great tool to have. I could see if I were trying to sand any big jobs or anything difficult that this would not be the sander, but for a desk reconditioning, or cleaning up a bay window this is a very suitable sander for you.

Craftsman 1/4 Sheet Pad Sander
A true lifesaver. One of my HONEY DO projects was to refinish our kitchen cabinets. This little jewel allowed me to sand 11 cabinet doors in less than an hour with perfect results. My Craftsman orbital sander would not allow me to do the corners inside the moulding but this sander made my project a snap. I would have given 6 stars if possible.

For me a Great Sander!
Four years ago I bought a random orbiting sander to finish a table top. It left swirls in it so I decided to buy this sander. At first I used the self sticking sandpaper then started buying full size sheets and making my own 1/4 sheets. It took the swirls out of the table without difficulty. The dust collection system could be a little better but works. I tend to use this sander for most of my work then use my Mouse for corner and detail work. I am getting ready to redo kitchen cabinets after having them for 50 yrs and this will be the perfect tool for getting the job done. Definately recommend this to others.
