Buy the C3 Li-Ion battery and Charger instead!
Buy the packaged Li-Ion battery and charger instead of this unit - it will be a better value for your money and you will be happier with the new design.
I have the older NiMH charger and two batterys that came with my C3 drill /worklight combination (excellent unit BTW). I found that the charger would not properly function so, being an electrical engineer, I took the unit apart to see why it would not work right (it would not detect the inserted battery correctly and would stop charging). I found that the little mechanical switch inside the unit was not getting moved far enough by the insertion lever when a battery in pushed in and therefore would not turn on the charger correctly (poor mechanical design). I wired across the AC DPDT switch such that the charger is always energized whenever the AC is plugged in. Since I only plug my unit in when I am going to charge my NiMH battery, this was a fine fix. I would not recommend this fix to the novice and I would suggest that one never leaves the charger plugged in 24/7 anyway. Now my reworked charger works just fine and I am a happy camper. When I get the funds, I will upgrade to the package deal of one Li-Ion C3 battery and charger as it will work with all my batterys and is a different design (better).

I purchased this to run a remote control "Craftsman Baja" truck for my grandson. The batteries have excellent life to them and by the time one runs down, the other one is charged again.

Craftsman Charger Works Well and Holds Great Charge
Holds a charge very well under load. About 2 hours for each battery with me. Charger can make a funny buzzing sound but does not hurt charging. Price was high for me but needed it for my tree trimmer. Would buy again. Will last for a good while in my opinion.

Quality??
I know as a kid Sears/Craftsman was some of the best stuff you could get... I'm not so sure of that anymore... I bought these to have backups for my trim saw and drill... These batteries don't hold a charge if you leave them sitting for a month or two without using them and they aren't very powerful either... my 14.4v dewalt holds it's charge and last forever it seems, and has probably 1.5 times the torque as the 19.2 volt Craftsman... Luckily, I only buy Sears/Craftsman tools on sale or i would be very unhappy...
