Craftsman C3 19.2 volt Fluorescent Light is disappointing! December 28, 2011

Having 19.2 volts available power I would expect this light to be much brighter than it is. The throw of the light is wide and disspersed however the level of illumination is seriuosly lacking.

Positives for this light are the hanging hook, which folds out of the way when not in use, & the ability to be set down on a flat surface.

This a great part of the 19.2V collection. Bright light and lasts a long time on a charge.

A solid addition to a C-3 tool collection... November 07, 2011

There's over 35 reviews already posted for this light, the C-3 powered Craftsman 19.2V - Fluorescent Light.  Many of this item's qualities have been illuminated (pun intended)...  both positive and those as might be an issue.

At the risk of redundancy, I want to mention my impressions about the design and construction of this light...  and also offer some opinion regarding its best uses.

I'm impressed by the design of the carrying handle.  The ergonomics are very user friendly...  and the overmolding on the handle's backstrap eliminates sharp edges as often encountered with hard plastic where seam lines meet.

The balance of the light in a users' hand is quite remarkable too.  Overall, this light gives an impression of solid construction and ruggedness...  and the retractable hook to suspend the light is well placed.

One aspect of the design, however, that some users might find annoying - (this also pointed out by another reviewer) - if using the compact Lithium-Ion C-3 battery, the light will not rest flat on the base of the battery as it does if using the full size lithium-ion C-3 battery or the Ni-Cad C-3 battery.

This isn't a "deal breaker" by any means...  and the light remains relatively stable when resting.

I suspect this light was designed before either of the Li-Ion batteries came along as you are unable to access the power level check button without removing the battery from the light.

For that reason alone, I've given this light 4 stars rather than the maximum of 5...  but it remains a solid performer and good addition to any C-3 based tool collection.

The light output is what I would anticipate from the compact dual fluorescent bulbs...  adequate to provide area illumination.  This isn't a light that throws a focused beam and to fault the light for not doing so is to mis-judge its capabilities.  Use it for what it does best.

I've found this light very beneficial in at least two weather related power failures.  It provides sufficient illumination to softly light an entire room...  and with minimal power drain on the battery.

For potential "emergency power" usage, this light is a recommended buy in my opinion...  but you'll find plenty of other uses for the Craftsman C-3 19.2 volt ?Fluorescent Light.

Nice light good addition to 19.2 volt tools. April 06, 2011

This is a great addition to the 19.2 volt line of tools. The light is convienant to use and light weight. It has a comfortable grip and the retractable hook is great for working on a car engine or other tight place when you need both hands to work but still need the light. I would recommend this to others.
