I was a little concerned about a full size cordless circular saw but this saw has great torque and does not burn through batteries at an unusually high rate. Unless you're building a house this saw and a 1 or 2 extra batteries to keep recharging will do anything you ask of it. Also, the blade that comes with the saw is one of the best general purpose blades I have used. Often the blades that come free with any saw are disappointing but not with this saw.

Cordless tools are great, wonderful etc. until you have to replace the batteries. Replacement batteries can be very expensive. Almost half the cost of the tool itself. I learned this fact after I had to replace the lithium batteries for my cordless drill.

See all reviews for this productI used this saw to build a pool deck. We made 100+ cuts with ease. I bought the 19.2 Li Ion battery and it lasted a long time. The fact that this thing gets the job done, and its cordless is awesome. We cut many 4x4 posts, making a cut on both sides. It rarely got stuck. If you keep it straight, it cuts very well. Other than having to buy the battery and charger which cost as much as the saw, I think this is a great tool to have around but not completely replace an old fashioned corded saw.
Saw works great. Easy to use and powerful. Laser makes it easy to follow for a quick clean cut.
a DIYerAfter having my previous cordless trim saw ruined in a flood I needed something to help us with our rebuild efforts. The decision was easy since I have tons of other C3 tools. It was either this one or the trim saw. I liked the standard size of this one so I got it.
When I got home I put the blade on and popped in a freshly charget battery. I set to cut some plywood to go into the trash. I ended up burning through 2 NiCads to cut 2 sheets of plywood. About what I expected giventhe reviews. So if you're doing little cutting the NiCad is fine.
I picked up the big LiIon battery and that's where this thing rocks. Today we were putting up plywood in my workshop. With the big LiIon battery I got through 3 sheets of plywood, a few 2x4's for a wall, and a few other miscellaneous cuts. Worked the saw from 1-3pm with the cuts and the battery still was showing yellow.
It's a great saw but you have to remember it's cordless. Cut slow and you'll be fine. The convenience of it is what I love about it - I can use it whereever I need to and with the basement remodel we're doing courtesy of the flood the saw will get a workout.
a DIYerI bought this to use with my C3 NiCad 1/2" Drill and Sawzall as my first circular saw. Now, it is a great saw, no doubt. It has great unique features that set it apart from other similar cordless circular saws such as the laser guide, the standard 7 1/4" blade, and the standard round arbor. The blade size was mainly what sold me, and that I already had batteries and two other tools so it just made sense. AT THE TIME. I got it and bought a new Freud DemoDemon carbide tipped blade to finish it off. The laser guide works great and i bet this would be great as a trim saw, but for general use, look elsewhere, because when u get into 2x_ stuff it starts to bogg down. Also, as with the other C3 tools, the overmold grip is made of cheap rubber and even though I havent used it enough to see, I have no doubt with more use it would start to peel in layers just like my Drill and Sawzall's did.
I ended up buying a RIDGID Magnesium Worm Drive saw about 10 months after the Craftsman because I needed a dependable saw that would work without having to worry of charge status and that could cut anything without hesitation. I'm overly satisfied with my Ridgid.
The Craftsman will cut great on a fully charged battery, but AS SAID BEFORE, the lithiums are a must with it. The NiCad's only take about 4 rip cuts of 6-8 foot dimensional then it's rendered too slow to be of use. Now, I personally never got the lithium batteries because I had my sawzall and the battery on it stolen, and had been looking for a hammerdrill to better suit my needs, so this left me with one battery and charger to use between a standard yet insufficient drill and a power tapping saw. And instead of buying a new sawzall, hammerdrill, lithium kit, and extra lithium, I found it would be more cost effective and value effective to look elsewhere. So, I bought a RIDGID X3 Hammerdrill kit w/ 2 L.Ion batteries and bought a cordless sawzall as an add on to it, and they are built with stronger, better wearing materials, but that's at a price; they're not as cheap as the C3's. I now plan to sell the almost mint Saw and my drill, battery, and charger.
