These tools are lightweight and powered by a compact 12 Volt Lithium-Ion battery for enhanced performance and longer shelf life. The compact design allows the tool to be used in tight spaces and stored in an area as compact and convenient as a drawer. The 3/8-in. drill has a powerful motor that delivers up to195 in-lbs of maximum torque and weighs only 2.2 lbs (with battery). The ergonomic, compact and lightweight design of the drill is ideal for all users and perfect for any do-it-yourself project. The drill features a variable speed switch for HI speeds of 0-1300 RPM (no load) and Lo speeds of 0-400 RPM. It also comes with a 2 speed gear box for high torque and 18-position adjustable torque clutch. The 3/8 single sleeve keyless chuck grips the bit quickly and securely. An integrated LED work light enhances vision by illuminating the bit and work piece. The innovative design of the dual-position MultiSaw allows the tool to be used as both a reciprocating saw and a sabre saw while delivering up to 2000 SPM. For additional blade control, an electric brake has been added to quickly stop the blade once the trigger is released. The MultiSaw features a soft grip handle for increased comfort and control and an integrated LED work light that illuminates the work area. For convenient adjustments, the blade clamp is tool-less which makes for quick and easy blade changes and the shoe is adjustable with an on-board hex key. The work light features an adjustable head that pivots up to 135 degrees and maximum flexibility and versatile illumination. The work light contains 24 bright LED lights that are efficient and cool-to-the-touch. A high impact lens cover protects the LED lights from accidental impact and the soft-grip handle provides increased comfort and control.

Time To Upgrade January 28, 2009
I have been in Maintenance for years and carry around a molded tool Briefcase just to have everything I need at hand. I have a limited amount of space so size is a consideration. I need to replace a well known "Teal" colored drill for a newer one. I considered the "Orange" compact single speed drill, the "Red" compact without a chuck from Wisconson and I found a 12v German compact at a "lowe-cal" hardware store. Played with it and told my wife that's what I wanted that for Xmas. Then weeks later we went shopping at the mall and walked by Sears. I couldn't believe my eyes! They locked onto this 12v combo giftset and immediately she knew the other drill was going back! I was initially impressed with the size and apparent build quality. When Xmas finally arrived, I was like a 10yr old fixated on that one gift I was eagerly awaiting for. I think I was embarrasing my 15yr old! I finally peeled back the wrapper and low and behold (I've always wanted to say that) She was mine! ...Now the review! Ergonomically the Drill fits amazingly well in my larger than average hands. The trigger, the reverser and the torque switch are all in the right place. The battery is part of the handle which reminds me of my old Glock 23 with the mag extention for your pinky. This baby has a light which is handier than I would expect (I'm used to holding an aluminum flashlight with my teeth) and the clutch is actually useable. I cut new foam for my briefcase so it would fit perfectly and since it's a little smaller than my other drill I was also able to make a home for the LED flashlight which by the way works great. (I would prefer a warmer white light as opposed to the "Blue/White" but It's still an asset and last forever. The reciprocating saw is good. Kind of a vertical sawzall which comes with a rough blade so keep it away from your crown moulding. I would recommend an adjustable platform for angles but hey...I'm not whining. For the same price as that "other" drill I got a kit and am very pleased! The Negatives...If you have to have a drill that you stand on it's battery, this one is not for you. Put it in your pocket!

Quality Concerns October 16, 2008
I bought this drill kit yesterday and when I got it home, I was very disappointed in the quality of some of the tools. My biggest issue is with the drill. The high/low speed switch will not fully switch into low speed and the clutch is very difficult to turn for such a small drill. I do however, like the light on the drill. Cool feature. The cutting tool took some figuring out. It might be me but I could not get a comfortable grip in any position and it has a lot of vibration. The flashlight with the LED's is awesome. Very bright. I also like the fast 30 min. charger. I will probably swap out the drill and try another one. I hope the quality is better on it.

The scroll saw is a bit noisy,Flashlight does not stand well on carpet,Flashlight could use a standThe Nextec combo with the drill, flashlight and scroll saw is an excellent, lightweight and powerful set to have around the house and will benefit any handyman for most any task! So far I have used the drill the most and I am very pleased with the power, lightweight and compact size. The drill can fit into most spots my bulky 18V Nicad drill could not. The light on the drill is also a big plus...just pull gently on the trigger and the LED will guide you to the right spot before you engage the drill. The Flashlight is also a wonderful addition to my toolbox. It is small, powerful and I love the rotating head! I have not used the scroll saw yet but I do not anticipate any problems with that as well. The scroll saw will take most any blade you can buy at a home improvement store so I am not limited to only getting blades from sears. My goal with this combo was to get a tool set that is smaller, lightweight and still have plenty of power to get the job done; so far I have no complaints and I am very happy with my purchase!

Questionable quality,the saw broke and the drill works poorlyBought this kit when I started remodeling a rental unit I bought. The saw broke a year after I bought it on its 3rd or 4th use. The drill works, but does not switch from high to low easily. I love lithium ion tools, and I like the size. I think Craftsman should have built the tools better and built them to last before they put them on the market. I also bought the nextec impact driver that broke within 90 days, which sears did replace. Save your money and buy makita or dewalt.

Pros:
SmallThe NEXTEC drill is very handy, light, and holds charge. I found the multi-saw a little ackward to operate the switch when trying to make certain cuts. Have not used the work light very much.
